Am I reading this right an Arb awning does not require the mounting brackets?

It just depends on how you want it mounted. The brackets are the most sturdy, most strategically placed mount for an awning. The cabrac has holes in the sides to bolt an awning directly to it. Any small profile awning will fit there but it puts the awning really close to the top of the door. This height isn't ideal if you are taller or want more clearance under the awning. The bracket puts the awning up about 3-4"

Struggling with this deciding if I'll even use an awning and if it's up to high restricting my access to parking garages.

Once I took the cargo baskets off it went away. There's still some wind noise but I expected there to be some.
It'll also help once I get a wind deflector without the LED bar cutout since I don't plan on running one anytime soon.

Out of curiosity, has anyone been able to mount these (or similar) Thule ski racks as shown in this video flush to the bar?
Here's the manual, it shows that they can be flush mounted with 1" or 2.2" T slot Thule hardware.
I think the difference in the hardware (1"vs 2.2") is for different size bindings. So I would probably just mount them with the 2.2" to make room for bulkier bindings, if that's what someone ended up having...
I found a link to what the hardware looks like on REI's site.

Yeah, normally I would do that but where I park for work...let's just say that set up invites people to steal (it's my daily). I know if people want something they'll get it...I just want to slow them down and maybe deter them.

So I have a bracket that will "lock in" the head of the bolt (not 1/4") where you used a nut, so basically using the head of the bolt in a ditch of the bracket to secure both ends. Will be using security hardware for the crossbars. The slots in the crossbars will only accommodate up to 1/4" diam. The bracket fits a 5/16". It's only a $100 light bar but don't want people prying at the rack to get at a stupid Chinese light bar.

I also plan on tack welding the bolts and if the light bar needs to be removed, the easiest way would be removing the crossbar.

Just compiling ideas I recall from the forums. The t-slot nuts linked from zscott will be the way to go!

Got my Auxbeam installed today. I must say that the single row looks like it integrates within the rack.

Man, what a set up! I get daily compliments on this rack!

Once again my apologies to Zac for reversing your logo.
