My average mileage is in my sig but I regularly get between 23 and 24 driving 70 mph going the 200 miles between Austin and Houston. I've found if I drive 75-80 the mileage drops to around 21. Pure city driving my mileage is 17-18.

Ohh no back to 3rd gen is shit.

Hey don't like the way the auto magic transmission works, by a dam manual. For those that complain about the power, coming from the 4 banger, this v6 works for me, atleast a day in.

I could say the same for you unfortunately. It gets very tiring to see people like you come in here and won't take the blame for themselves when they make poor decisions. Most new users used to come in here and make threads saying, hey check out my new ride. People would say awesome post some pics. You come in here and point fingers at Toyota for your own fault of not doing some research. Me having a foul mouth has nothing to do with you coming in here and acting like a child. Is that really necessary? Maybe you should be the one to grow up and go buy a ridgeline. That may be better suited for you.

I can't believe someone would complain about fuel mileage when driving 80 mph. SMH....

I thought you were growed up when you got a Taco instead of a ridgeline? Guess I take my truck back and go to the Honda place.

I was just saying that may be better suited for him since he was complaining about the Tacoma, not being grown by buying a ridgeline. I was telling him to grow up by doing his research and not pointing fingers and accusing others of lying and not taking the fault for his lack of research. Anyone driving 80+ with a truck that has a smaller engine where the power is on the top end will not get the mileage Toyota claims it will. That's common sense. The Ridgeline on the other hand, is more like a car, but still has a bed, so that may be better suited for his interstate needs is all I was saying about that. You shouldn't trade yours in.......that just wouldn't be right.

Now you could have said it the way you did just now. I did not make a poor decision, I like the truck, but I also did research and the new 3.5 Gen 5 was rated at 19 city 24 Hwy with the 2 wheel drive 3.5 V6. And that ain't happening! If I got 18mpg instead of 24 on the freeway, I would agree, going 70-80mph this would understandable. but to get 15-16 on the freeway, TOYOTA lied! As said before, I bought the truck for looks, dependability, value and gas mileage, 3 out 4 I can live with, but I still complain about 1 out of the 4...

You have 4x4? toggle it in and out of 4x4 and it could be what I had with mine.

some of these are coming out of whack for the alignment from the factory. Maybe get it checked by them. Its free from the dealer for the first year or 12k

I have inflated my tires to 36 and get them to 39 on the highway when they heat up.

    Have you lubricated your ujoints?

just a couple of things that may be affecting your MPG.

Im not here to point fingers or name call. we should be here to help people when they have issues and try to find solutions

This is true from what I'm seeing. I have a 2017 DCSB OR manual and I'm lucky to get 16mpg mixed driving. I only have about 2500 miles on it, but I got 17mpg with my 2010 DCSB OR with a lift and tires on it. Hoping mileage improves some, but I don't expect it to. I didn't get another Taco for the MPG, but before I lifted my 2010 (auto tranny btw) I was consistently getting 21-22 mpg with the same commute I have now. And I assure you I baby this truck, I don't high rev it before shifting.

When my dad can get about 19-20 in his Silverado 1500, I have to wonder what the heck...

seriously, why take the balls out of a truck to get 2 mpg better. If this truck was getting 30mpg then I wouldnt mind at all having no low end
