Axle Shims with new leafs

    anyone have any ideas or tricks on ,

    1. Do i even need shims with OME dakar packs (2.25" of lift)
    2. If so what size should i need
    3. Can i measure the drive shaft and diff with out pulling to two apart?

    icon stage 10 kit, toytec 1" bl, 35" general x3s, 17x9.5 procomp wheels, locker anytime mod, s&b intake, blackhawk 2.1 tune,
    Shouldnt need shims with dakars. You may need to drop carrier bearing some though. For some reason this varies from truck to truck

    Donahoe CO's, Deaver leaf paks, Lockright Locker, All Pro body armor ( sliders, front and rear bumpers ), All Pro under belly skids, Warn M8K w/Masterpull synthetic line, Dual Optima battery system, 4 ea LightForce Striker 170 offroad lights, 8 ea wired rock lights, and plenty more I'm sure
    X2 shouldn't need a wedge shim for any leaf suspension
    having 2.50" suspension lift or less.

    Lowering the rear axle's center carrier bearing (ddcardon joint)
    maybe be useful if there is any driveline vibration noticed...
    But I've never needed to do that with my 2.50" lift, Deaver leaf springs.

    5100's, All Pro 3" Standard leafs, 32" KM 2's
    Depending on how much you car about perfection, both a slight carrier drop and axle shims can be implemented with benefits. I would install shims over a carrier drop as the latter can introduce new stresses on the transfer case u joint.

    Ok are there any walk throughs on installing a carrier bearing shims? Have no idea how i would do it

    Oh ok that picture just made me understand how it works i think. Im getting the OME FK29 shim kit. 12.99 overnighted to my local 4wheelparts store.
