I would like to do this; Mine are a tattered disaster. How did you create your template and what materials and clips did you use?

Lots of plans, little money....
I used the old ones for a template and laid them out on the rubber with the proper spacing in between and added an inch to the height for the body lift. Traced and cut. I cut them a little big to start to leave enough room for error. I went to the local hardware store and found the right size push clips. There is one hole that requires a larger clip on each side. Any clips will work and most places have a good variety of auto body fasteners. I started at one end marked the rubber for the hole and just used some scissors to cut said hole. Push in the clip and line up the next hole and repeat. I didn't want to pre cut the holes in case there was any thing that was off so this was the best method for me. The rubber is actually a moisture barrier used in the exterior of commercial buildings at ground level. I got a roll from some masons on a job site. Not sure of the correct name for it. It's about 2 ft wide and a whole roll is 20+ ft long. It's about an 1/8th" thick. Could probably be found at home depot or Lowe's.

It was very easy to do. Like I said, I left everything long, made a few relief cuts to get it to sit where I wanted, got all my clips in and just cut the excess off. Both sides are the same by the way, so after you make one all you have to do is trace out the next one. Took about an hour total.

    1. I posted this awhile back,
My solution, with part # of proper Toyota clips, I had trouble with the store bought ones not fitting properly
      [IMG][IMG]

I was unhappy about the mud/splash guard being removed, I want to protect my engine compartment from flying debris and water. Plus the drivers side remote rez was getting very hot due to proximity to the engine and because the radiator hose nearly rests on the rez itself. So I went and bought an innertube (10$) some aluminum sheet insulation with adhesive on one side (18$) and some Toyota factory clips (15$). Also some 3m tape and high heat metal duct tape.

Washed the pieces to help the adhesive stick, don't tell my gal lol

Here's the stuff I used, with the part # of the clips
      [IMG]
I reused the factory holes so no drilling, I did the drivers different than the passenger because I put more insulation on that side

Gave her a good washing and dropped off a "used" ARE X Seires camper shell to be painted to match the truck. Ready to get it on there!

I used a couple of L brackets and an L brace, with some self-tapping screws to attach them to the aluminum crash bar.

Received my new skids in the mail yesterday. Three coats of primer and now two coats of paint before they get installed.
