Looks good. Just a heads up on the trans skid. It's weak point is where the lip on the sides ends. It ends inches before the crossmember. I bent mine all the way across.

This was the fix after hammering it flat.

I bought a used ARE DCU cap and installed it temporarily. It's rough - needs painted and re-mounted, but for $100... I see potential.

So is it a lot tougher with the added cross beams?

Since it's only the insert you're cutting, I bet you could find one on eBay or in here from someone who replaced theirs with a pro grill. I did the mesh on mine and loved the outcome.

Pardon my noob-ness. But do you have a write up or anything on this? I have a couple pods that I got from another member and I would like to put them in the same spot. But I don't know my ass from my elbow when it comes to doing stuff like that. Thanks!

What are the specs with doing the mod to them? What steel, how far from the edge and what's the length? I've got the transfer case skid coming so would this still work with it?

Depends on how you wheel too if you need this. The off road park we go to is VERY rocky.

It's 1 1/2" wide x 3/8" thick standing on it's edge. I don't remember any of the measurements but it doesn't have to be THAT exact. Mine just ALMOST butts up to the crossmember. I have all of the skids, the transfer skid will be unefected by this.

Another option, is an x pattern with angle iron siting with the point up. I did it the other way because of that side lip being the weakest point. I figured I could have my guy weld an x in the middle if needed later. It's heavy enough the way it is though. I won't do any more unless I need to.

This is how @stairgod reinforced his Mobtown skid.

Installed the TC channel bed stiffeners. Didn't do much for my gap but Im happy with the result and anchor points.

They are great. They were a little stiff when they showed up so after a few weeks I backed off the compression adjustment by 2 clicks and now the taco rides like a Cadillac on the pavement. On trails it was a vast improvement over the 886s I had before.
