The shop could NOT get this skid plate on w/ the 6" BDS Lift (diff drop). Completely sucks, cause they went ahead and painted it before making sure it would fit so I'm out the $480 and the paint job $. They have also had my truck over a week. I'm so pissed.

Thats what I was saying, our techs have had to use tube spacers on certain lifts. Not sure who to talk to, but that a Toyota design issue :/

    O

Idk if my shop is incompetent or giving me the runaround, but they have had the truck for over a week and cannot get the plate on. I told them about the spacers and they said that they didn't know what I was talking about. It's frustrating cause they had it painted before making sure it fit first.

Its not hard, you buy tube spacers and longer bolts. If they cant figure that out, they dont need to be techs!

What Recovery Hooks are you guys using? I bought a 3/4th's shackle and it doesnt fit the original. I saw someone use a 1/2inch and I might buy one of those and use the 3/4 for the hitch

These are a nice piece of kit. Installed mine today and I must day I am rather impressed with the build quality on the TRD Pro skid plate. Very impressed with the amt of coverage it provides and it actually looks useful compared to the OEM one, which I was surprised at how little it covered and how thin it was.

Granted this is is not going to be as tough as a steel one, but it should handle a good deal of knocks/hits before it is in need of replacing. Will meet my needs perfectly which is logging/forestry service roads, some stream/brook crossings/etc. I'm not into serious offroading (rock crawling/etc) more overloading and this will work perfectly for my needs and shave some weight off the truck.

Bummer it is not compatible with the recover hooks people are installing, I was debating buying one, but I think I will go with a bumper replacement in the coming year, once I figure out what it is I actually want. Slimline looks to be the winner.

On a side note, installing it on the TRD sport was a breeze. Take off the air dam, toss in garbage, remove the small tin plate and toss in garbage, realize their are two extra cross beams running lengthwise that old plate attaches to (5 x 17mm bolts) on the sport that need to be removed and toss in garbage. Crawl underneath the truck and realize the entire underside is covered in about an inch of mud from the job site, damn! Decide to install anyways and scrap away where the mud is, check. Somehow hold the skid plate in the air with one hand while ratcheting it into place with the other, not an easy task. ON the second gen I could just hold it up in the air with my head pressed against it, this is a lot heavier. Get out from under truck marvel at your handy work and realize you somehow got the 12mm ratchet extension onto the top of the skid plate and cannot get your hand into recover it, seemed like a good spot to put it while your other hand was busy holding the skid plate up. Finally get out and marvel at your installation.

Has anyone put this skidplate on a 4 cylinder? I'm guessing since it bolts to the frame it would fit?

I presume by shirts version you meant the double cab short box? If so I am 99% sure the TRD plate will work on the DCSB version of the truck. The only think that is different from the DCLB is that the box is a foot shorter, the front end should remain the same if I am not mistaken..
