Nothing wrong with a little extra rake in the back...

Dood! You're going to prompt @BudMan to post that 2 Live Crew video again. Song was stuck in my head for at least a week...

Maybe do the swap tomorrow night. Have to check with the other half.

You can pull the extra leaf out, or leave it in and remove one overload (there are 2). Or go fully loaded. Lots of options to get it the way you want, and change it later to accommodate more armor.

I can always get down to a little 2 Live Crew!

I'll probably pull the extra leaf out, but then again I have no idea what I'm doing. I might eenie meenie miney mo it to be honest. I'll rely on the vast wisdom of whoever installs with me.

Also, lets get together sometime soon and compare racks.

I guess you forgot we are running 2000 lbs above stock weight? Or are you going to go back down to two batteries instead of four soon?

fingers and toes crossed for you though. I am just sitting around with my thumbs up my ass for three weeks when all the desert trips are starting waiting for the second try....

Ditching one battery for now. Stock payload (DCSB 4x4 OR) is 1,280. Not sure how Toyota split the payload, in terms of front to back, but they probably figured most of the weight would be in the bed. I don't think they accounted for front bumper, winch, sliders, full skids, etc., that distribute a lot of the weight to the front. Expos are rated for a constant 600 lbs. in the bed. These are rated for 1,200 in the bed. Some of the overall 2k extra pounds goes to the front 700 lbs King springs.

I sent them the stock weight distribution, my weight distribution, and they had the stock rear spring specs. Hopefully they put all of this info into an excel spreadsheet that spit out exact specs on the correct # of leaves, leaf thickness, and free arch. Probably not though. It's all a fuckin' experiment at this point... but they based it on experience. I don't know the correct answer, so hopefully they do.

FYI- There was an info sheet that came with the springs saying to gradually break them in over the course of a month, before flexing the shit out of them. Fire roads, street driving, mall crawling, etc., for at least 30 days. Supposed to reduce future sagging and extend the life of the springs.

From the numbers you linked to me.

    Stock Me GAWR/GVWR(before modifications)
    Front 2400 2880 2775
    Rear 1900 3880 3110
    Total 4300 6760 5500

So you can see I am 1980 lbs over a stock rear unloaded. Now I am only 770 lbs over what the stock springs were meant to handle (along with other parts), but they were not meant to stay the same hight and compliant at that top weight I am sure, this is with some shitty handling and hitting bump stops which I dont want to do. So I took the 1980 lbs over the ideal scenario of unloaded, and try to give me that unloaded feel when I am loaded (I always carry a good load even when I am not trip ready anyway).

So when I chatted last time, I said I am 2000 lbs additional weight in the back, because I pretty much am, and setup my springs for that. The pack they sent me was 2 leafs added to a pack that was setup for 800 lbs additional, obviously that may be enough to hold me, it is not enough to keep my height and make the truck drivable under load.

I think they used your math with the first pack they send me ;)

I guess one thing to consider with your 8 leafs @Overlanerd , they can send you a lot of additional leafs before you need to send anything back ;)

We should have started a fatty goes to the prom thread for this discussion. Since there isn't one on TW and now its all lost in our BS thread.

Yeah, my math is kinda shitty...

They said that they have made a pack similar to the All Pro Expos, which is designed for a constant 600 lbs of weight in the bed. I told them that I needed a pack to hold a consistent 1200 lbs. in the bed. With a spring rating 600 lbs over expos, I'll hopefully be ok. Maybe @tacomgee can chime in. He's got expos, dual HC swingout, bedrack, tepui, full skids & sliders... and the shackle flip, which also changes the whole deal. I don't think I'm more than 600 lbs heavier than that.

I'm pretty sure Deaver & All Pro user thinner leaves as well. Andy, please measure your leaf thickness and free arch of the pack they sent you. I won't know what to do with this info, but it will give me a comparison.

You guys with 35s what backspacing are y'all running?

I'm gonna buy 33s this year and run them until I re gear next year but I don t want to buy rims twice.

I was gonna go with 4.5 for the 33s but with wanting to go to 35s after re gear what should I look at? 4" or 3.75?
