It's a work in progress. See my build thread.
Morning, folks. Does anyone have experience with taking the dash apart to add an off-road light switch (3rd gen, 2nd gen may be similar), getting the associated wires through the firewall, and is willing to assist with same?

Not sure when the light brackets are arriving, but I can add them later, so I'm thinking this weekend.

I think there is a hole on the driver side firewall for running cable through. Not sure how easy it is to do though, never tried it myself. Once I get my gauges for boost and afr set up, I will be attempting to fish stuff through there too. Sorry, not a lot of help from me.

I'm thinking that getting the wire through will be the easy part, and dis and reassembling the dash will be the more challenging part...

Were you looking to do the area below the hvac controls? If so, (on mine at least) you may be able to remove the center console and go in from that way.

I did it on my 2nd gen. I can take a look at the 3rd gen to see if it is similar. There is a grommet (maybe that's the right term) on the driver's side that you can feed wires through.

Edit: Just read your comment above, yeh, that's the easy part. Also, mine being an SR5, I just popped the plastic out of a blank switch bank to the left of the steering wheel out and put my otrattw switch in it's place.

For feeding the wire through, use a metal hanger with electrical tape on the end. There must be a write up on here somewhere to take the dash apart

Exactly what I want to do. My concern is getting to the back side of that panel. Shown here:

I was able to reach up behind there and just push on it lightly and pop it out. It popped out easily. I also tested to make sure it would go back in and it was also really easy to put back in.

That makes sense. But how did you fish the wire from the firewall to be able to get it to the switch panel?

Were you able to simply reach behind the dash and feel the hanger?

I pushed the hanger through the opening in the grommet and once it came through (by my feet on the driver's side), it was easily visible and I just grabbed it.

Well... Looks like it might require disassembling the dash... I can't get to the switch panel by reaching under the dash... So now I need to decide if I'd rather tackle it myself, or break out the credit card.
