Hey, quick question(s) for you guys.

My Taco is a '13 and I have multiple cracks through the windshield. I finally got around to going to set up an appointment to get it replaced and I asked the lady at the glass place if they could use OEM glass and she said that insurance would never approve that since the truck was old enough to have aftermarket options available.

Is this true or are they just trying to maximize profit margins by using aftermarket glass?

Second question -- if I do have to use aftermarket glass, is there a difference compared to OEM?

No unless your running a Mercedes or something with sensors on it. PPG makes glass for most automakers and shops. Toyota just etched thier name on it.

Hey all, it seems that the Washington people are modding more than Oregon people these days.
Has anyone found a 16x8 rim with 4" BS in steel? Ever since Wheeler's stopped selling theirs, I think this is a dried up market.
Right now a set of SCS SR8 is my contender (unless I find a better deal).

No problem... the gasket material and they way they clean it makes more of a difference then the glass

I run the SCS SR8 with 4.3 if you want an example what they look like. I do have +2 in the front and +1 in the rear.

I seem to remember having better clearance at 4", and I think that's what SCS is doing these days anyway. I am ~somewhat~ concerned with looks, but I focus more on cost, fitment, and strength, since I'm really just going to beat them up. Stock rims have taken a big beating and are impressively holding up, but I'm done with spacers and the grief I get from auto shops. RRW would be a contender, but their hub bore is 108mm and they admit a hub shim would be advisable - screw that.

That is true for about 98% of aftermarket wheels. SCS is one of the few options for a hub centric wheel which is why I went that route. Can't go wrong with any SCS model.

I got my truck about 2 weeks before my wedding, 5 years ago. Mod money is still there for me. With a decent spouse, the girlfriend to wife thing starts as a one time large expenditure for the wedding, but doesn't increase recurring bills, other than credit cards from paying for the wedding if used.

My reasons for not being farther along the mod path are from money going to things like mortgage, and now wifey's new 4Runner, which replaced a Jetta (for sale to anybody I don't know btw), and my poor money management which lead to credit card debt that I'm working out of. Wife hasn't stopped me from modding.

I'll second that. My wife has her horse addiction. I've got the truck and my photography hobby. We both get to do what we want

I picked up this for my spare - http://www.4wheelparts.com/Wheels/S...x?t_c=11&t_s=209&t_pt=100021&t_pn=PCW87-6883T - at Discount Tire, however I'm not finding it on their website right now so may not be available any longer? It was only around $64 as I recall. Not quite the 4" you are looking for though.
