My family was heavily involved with SCCA through the 80s and 90s. We completely left the organisation in 97 when the politics was no longer bearable. Even the runoffs became a drag. Always loved working the races. Led to lots of connections. Everyone in my family at some point traveled and was paid to work for NASCAR or FIA or IMSA or CART. Those are the major ones.

NASA and the 24lemons are the ways to have fun these days.

Our friends are involved with 24lemons and it sounds like a blast from what they tell us.

Looks like it is $500 TOTAL. Some safety stuff is exempt like wind shields, cages, fuel lines, ball joints, etc.

Section 4 for price info. @tcBob What are the chances of TW sponsoring a TW 24lemons team??!! :p

A us flag has a guaranteed life of 90days if I remember correctly. Valley forge makes a decent flag. I've had good luck with them. Of course, they have various types and qualities.

Looking into lemons previously, it's about a 2-3k investment from each crew member after the safety equipment and travel and spare parts etc. are covered for a ~6 person team

That's why me and my brother haven't seriously persued this. The cost can be brought done with certain amounts of "in-house" knowledge but the cost of fire suits, helmets, fire systems and tyres are pretty well set. Fabricating a roll cage and cobbling together a rolling chassis is the cheap part.

I like the idea of a TW sponsored team. We could get others involved too.
