Ok great, thanks for the feedback. I am new to the 4x4 world so understanding the difference between the part time and full time is probably important. I have driven my previous truck at high speeds with 4high on and never had an issue so I never gave it much thought. I would always make larger turns while traveling 30-40 mph and never had a problem, little noise sometimes.

Haha, good thing it's was only a few times. I only plan on engaging in 4hi or low when I'm driving in bad snow conditions. Just got a set of ko2 so that should help.

Maybe use bags of salt? Weight to help you not get stuck. If you do get stuck you got salt to melt the snow/ice around your tires.

Can anyone offer feedback on the best way to add weight in the back, I have heard sand bags is an option. Anything else?

concrete patio slabs. 95lbs a slab.

the plows here either have salt holders in the back as weight or drive around with concrete dividers on the back to add weight.

I bet it melts by next week... warm weather on the way...
On the 4X4 issue... I use mine a lot when on the Hwy... I'm on dry pavement and following a line of drivers that are scared to get into the passing lane that has 6" of snow on it... As long as I'm doing under 100Kms, I flip the switch and "gently" get into the deep stuff...Sorry guys I cannot help the spray all over you, but you were going too damn slow for my liking...

I do a slow and careful pass... then into the "dry" right lane and immediately switch back to 2 wheel... Beautiful...!

I do it a lot ... Works for me..

yup only a couple inches but the snow was about 2 days old and i almost ate shit getting out of my truck to take some pictures, it was real icy/slushy. not saying they're amazing tires but this trail was props 10 miles and has some really tight turns going up and down a mountain so i'm not going to say they suck

I had an '03 Ranger FX4/OR before my Taco. Never put any weight in the bed and never had any issues. That lil truck was a beast. Cant wait to get Taco in the snow...or off-road. Been so flipping busy with work. :frusty:

Cooper Discoverer A/T3 are great all around tires. Beefier than the GY Kevlars. Better O/R and in snow. Not as beefy as BFG KO2 and those tend to be a bit noisy on road.

I'm dreading the brutal Arizona winter. Just kidding, my sympathies and good luck to those who are preparing to endure the winter season. I'm from Michigan so I know what you are getting ready for. Don't be jealous we freaking bake in the summer (if you didn't know).

You are mean, I mean really mean. ;)

I just had my winter tires and steel wheels put on. Oct 26 is the cut off for summer tires. BC requires at least all season after Oct 26. Locally we get a pretty mild winter. Living just south of the Alaska pan handle you would think it would be much colder but with the Pacific just 100Km west of us..... Been raining now for a week and for the next two so there is an offset, I dislike snow only slightly worse than cold rainy days. We do get snow here though and when it comes it comes in bunches. The Taco just churns through it. I don;t bother with weight in the back. When I am on snow I switch to 4x4 and have ample traction at reduced speeds. I tun 16" tires in the winter for a narrower tread.

    Take Care

    Bob

No snow or even close to cold enough for snow in Winterpeg yet, this feels odd. Hopefully it comes good at some point, I've got a new snowmobile to play with!
