I would think long and hard if I was you about a TBS for the trans. With the Mileage you are getting ! Unless you have something really wrong , you might want to leave it alone . LOL

Soooo I had my TSB done today. Worked out awesome!! The service guy said to drive it like you stole it. He said it will "remember" your driving habit and will run a lot better after the first 500 miles. I drove it today for about 60 miles and it runs 10x better than ever!!

I was reading another TSB thread and an inmate who works at a dealership said that Rev1 is the same ECM code release as the original -077-16. It's just updated to show other symptoms. Don't know if that's true ...

So is this a different TSB or the same with added information?

Did you have the first TSB performed? If you did have the first TSB downloaded, was the revised TSB beneficial?

No I actually waited until I needed my oil changed. I knew there was a TSB so I came on here to print it out and take it to the dealer (because they always say they don't have one). That's when I found it on Page #1 of this thread. But here is the original one https://www.tacomaworld.com/attachments/2016-tacoma-transmission-tsb-0077-16-pdf.1096837/

But the TSB makes your truck like brand new. No more erratic shifting. But like I was saying in an earlier post make sure you drive it they exact way you plan on always driving it after the TSB. The computer "learns" your driving habits. So I am driving mine hard so that it will always shift when I need it to.

I had the TSB performed last August. I'm just hesitant do have the R version uploaded. I'm getting very good MPG but still have R to D surge "sometimes" 3 to 4 flare "sometimes." Just don't know if I want to mess with what I have going on...

I am with you. I will wait and see how the revised update performs after these owners get 1000-1500 miles on it. I can't take another disappointment of reverting back to the original condition again after a 2nd TSB. Hitting the ECT when needed is 2nd nature to me now and gets me through the 2-3-4 shift much more normal. I can hit it with my eyes closed. At first I hit the start/stop ignition a couple of times. That did not help me downshift very well. Wish the ECT was on the shifter. It is a little too close to the ignition button. I guess the Japanese ECT button engineers did not communicate with the North Korean transmission engineers on that one.

Just post results after you get 1500 miles on it. Some of us are waiting before we get this revised TSB since the original did not last longer than 1500 miles (for most of us).

Not sure if you guys are reading through all 129 pages of this thread as we have mentioned this many times .
When you bring your truck in to have the TSB performed , Toyota doesnt manually check the fluid level .
Its a missing procedure in the TSB that should be implemented into any transmission diagnostic .
    Check your fluid level

According to Toyota technical support TSB issued 10/31/16 is T-SB-0088-16. From what CSR relayed, does involve some shifting issues........while driving a distance ( how many miles not disclosed) transmission fails to properly up shift from a lower gear and the same scenario for a downshift, vehicle is to be taken to dealership, test drive will be performed , if technician determines the Tacoma is afflicted with this issue then TSB will be performed. As in so many cases technician determines customer's concern can not be duplicated. If anyone is able to disclose a more complete explanation , please share with the Tacoma World membership. Thanks, Mikey4X4.
