Buy a nylon synthetic flag, replace when it gets unserviceable.

I go through about 3 flags per year.

Thanks - I will check them out.

Obviously I'm not an expert (otherwise I wouldn't have needed to ask :D ) but won't the heat and sun here in the valley wear out a synthetic flag really quickly? I guess I sorta assumed a cloth/embroidered flag would last longer, but I could be dead wrong on that one. Maybe fabric is just as prone to heat/UV damage.

I guess since the weather is finally starting to cool down a bit I can start with a synthetic flag and see how long she lasts and go from there. Thanks for the input everyone! Enjoy the weekend!

Correct. Initial thought was it's well thought out and clean execution. Then when it failed to work right out of the box due to faulty parts was a bummer. Then after a few bends I was not impressed with the quality of the bends. Granted it was .095 chromoly so it was a little thin but the deformed flattened out bends were a little bit of a turn off. I have yet to have a flattened bend with my pro tools bender.

The nylon "all weather" flags will last much longer. I get about 6months depending on weather. You might be able to extend that a little longer if you take it down at night and don't fly in inclement weather. Then you'll get closer to a year. I've always had mine illuminated and fly it 24/7 unless winds are above 40. My flag pole is rated to 80 with a 3x5 or 60 with a 5x8. I fly a 5x8 US and a 3x5 AZ on mine.
