I'm looking to get some new tires for my 2004 Tacoma 2.7l. I currently am running 265/65/17 Dueler HT's. I also have a 2" lift.
I'm going to use my truck for Light off-roading and mostly camping trips to different surf destinations in CA. Plus some Light trails in the backcountry of Big Sur. Kind of an all round rig and daily driver to have fun with on weekends and take on long trips to different camp spots.

Price is a big factor for me as I would like to keep cost low.

Prices will be put in the poll.

The falken and generals are both 255/70/17 tires so take that into account. They don't have a 75 size. All of the tires are P rated.

Holy crap. Already have the 2094 model eh? I vote the dynapro. A friend of mine had them and they worked well on his truck. Even if it was a Chevy. he had similar uses for the tire as well.

I got P-rated Falken at3w's. I am very happy with them. They are extremely quiet and ride great. Never had any traction issues.
In hind sight with the wheeling I have done since I bought them, I wish I had bought E rated Cooper ST MAXX tires.

Have you had any issues wheeling in a P rated tire?

Not yet. I took a large chunk out of one of the side walls about 5K miles ago. Still going strong though.

The ST MAXX tires have a pretty good reputation for being durable, high performers.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Had grabbers on my old '75 Pontiac Astre and they were nice. I imagine the truck tire would be good, also

Yeah. That's the problem with a lighter rated tire. I plan to use my rig for more backcountry stuff and camping not too much wheeling so I think a P rated tire will be ok.

I want the ST maxx but they're just like $45 bucks more per tire which is a bummer.

I think it is worth it. I would not skimp out on tires. You want a tire that will be reliable especially in the back country.

The ST Maxx, the Grabber and the Falkens are all great tires. The other two in my opinion are not aggressive enought for serious wheeling/ overlanding/ back country camping.

He's driving to surf spots and doing mild/light trails to get there.

Not overlanding. Not serious wheeling. Not backcountry camping on unmanicured trails.

Just giving my opinion. Take it or leave it. Although, Backcounty and camping were specifically mentioned.

I appreciate both of the inputs. In a way you are both right. I plan to mostly do daily driving, road trips to surf spots (Baja, big sur, etc.). I also plan to use it in order to hit up national parks and groomed trails in the backcountry where I'll need tire reliability.

ATPs are perfectly suited for groomed trails in government owned parks, as are the Dynapro's. Groomed is the key word.

The Grabber and the MAXX are different tier of tires IMO, I would be comfortable getting P metric ATPs or Dynapro for the uses you list. If you want a little extra insurance find a C rated version.

You only need what you need. Fitting in online doesn't apply here.

I've ran KOs, Dynapro's and run the ATP currently.

Keep in mind OP is a Prerunner not a 4x4.

He is not wheeling into campgrounds in the back country, but driving on manicured dirt roads that see a grader every other spring.

Outside of surfing our uses are identical, as are our trucks.
