Leander is blowing up, so housing is quite inflated. 3/2s seems to be pushing $230s on up. We have to live close-ish to the boys' school due to divorce decree, which makes it harder. Their schools are in one of the $$$$ areas (Crystal Falls). We'll be lucky to get into the $230s.

Not sure what in construction you do but a certified plumber hvac electrician that has his own business is a the way to go.

My dad's been an electrician for 30yrs. Why I never learned I will never know.

 

Home prices out here are schizophrenic. The median house price will vary wildly from neighborhood to neighborhood, even if they're right next to each other and they're brand new developments. So will the tax rate. We're not talking Section 8 housing either.

 

That's one thing I don't miss about Austin and the surrounding areas: the higher cost of living (compared to the rest of Texas). The house we just built in SE Houston would have easily cost 1.5-2.0x more in Austin.
