Anyone Paint or Mod Their Scosche/Metra Dash Kit?

Lightly considering painting my Scosche dash kit to either match the charcoal parts of the panel or even just to better metch the silver panel. Anyone done anything like this? Pics?

I've been getting into fiberglassing and painting other interior parts, so I'm thinking this may be my next project. I really like how well the Scosche kit works and the smooth look, but the color doesn't 'completely' match the vent pieces and the sharp edges could be done better.

I just did a set of kick panels that look and feel like the factory plastic, so I don't think it would take much to clean up the Scosche trim panel.

It may be a month down the road, but I'll post pictures once I get into this project.

What brand of paint and what color did u use to paint the piece?? Where'd you buy it?

 

man that looks clean. I've seen a few painted from solid colors to AK47 pictures but this looks by far the best. What kind of paint did you use?

 

^^^ It's been a while, but I think I took a factory part to Home Depot, where they used a color scanner to make a custom color paint -- I think it was just a latex based paint. Then, I watered down the latex paint, and used an aerosol kit available at Home Depot to spray paint the pieces. The aerosol kit was in the spray paint section of Home Depot. It just has a glass bottle and a propellant with a spray nozzle.

I want to say that the only two parts in the vehicle exactly that color are the audio/AC control trim panel and the trim panel around the gear selector. So, once you have those two parts isolated from the vehicle, you could paint them any color you wanted, and the two would match eachother. Just remember to pull out the AC piece from the back, and the clock piece. That's easier than trying to mask them off with masking tape.
