This is accurate, I've experienced it myself across many (non-vehicle related) topics.

Without having the background to understand what you're reading, it can be tough to make sense of any research you do, much less be sure you're making the right choices. Having someone give you the "complete" package is like going on an all-inclusive vacation - you know it might not be the best thing in the world, you know you could probably do better, but it's an easy and safe bet.

It's difficult to remember what it was like before you knew something - after reading all the questions from people about whether or not to remove the grill to plastidip, I was kind of nervous about installing a mesh grill. Now that I've done it, I sigh every time I read a question about grill removal...

Maybe a more common difficulty than I thought. I know that it seemed easier to do a Google search that will quote many threads of TW than to search the TW forum directly, but there is a learning curve and I have gotten better at the TW search. It is also annoying when someone creates a threat about AT shifting when there are so many threads that have already beaten this topic to a pulp already....

Best thing actually is to do this when searching, go to google and add tacomaworld to your search, works way better and easier to decipher. Example: "oil change tacomaworld"

But Google misses a lot of pages, especially in the member-only sections.

I've exclusively used Google to do my searching here, and have always found what I needed. If I didn't and created a new thread, it's because it didn't exist.

Repeat threads keep this forum alive and are mostly from new members. If repeat oil threads piss you off dont look at them!!!

I like making new threads because times change, new products come out, old products can have downfalls etc.

I like the latest and greatest answer to the topic

Honestly the problem isn't the newbie threads, it's the unfriendly responses that many established members spew at them. As others have noted, we were all new once. If you don't have useful info to add to a thread, just ignore it and move on. Sadly I think too many people don't learn the answer to their question, but they do learn that the TW forum seems to full of insiders and bullies.

For all those whose first reaction is "go do a search," I say, "go look up the definiton of "'forum,".

I fail to see where it specifies anything related to the topic at hand.
