Thinking of selling... Thoughts?

I've been thinking about selling my '05 Prerunner. I bought it on an impulse after the tragic story of my SE-R and my desire for a Tacoma. I love my truck but it doesn't really suit all my needs. I really should have bought a double cab and probably a 4x4. I've been thinking a lot about this lately and its the reason why I haven't ordered my lift and all that stuff yet. Luckily my truck is worth (trade in) roughly what I paid for it so I would not lose much money at all. The only thing I would consider selling my Taco for is another Taco.

I've found two trucks that are promising. One is a black '05 DC 4x4 SR5 with 47K miles and the other is a white '06 DC 4x4 SR5 with 36K miles. My truck currently has just over 30K miles. I can afford the difference between either truck and mine.

What do you guys think? Should I keep my truck (which I love) or should I go for it an get a Double Cab 4x4?

Keep in mind, I do like to Off Road and I am usually the one who drives when I do something (I dont like other people being in control of my safety).

Are both trd off road or sports?

 

That is the question. You now have the rear locker and would definitely notice the difference the extra pull from the front would make. Are both autos and other options basically the same?

 

I sold my 05 AC for my 06 DC both 4x4 but i needed the extra room because of this little one...

 

Seems like your going through a young change of life changing your name and now your truck, well if it was me the black 4x4 is the shit but white is my second choice toss a coin bro. good luck with choice.

 

Congrats on the new one, i wouldnt have bought an access cab to small for me plus my daughter is 4 months old so im happy with my choice lotta room.

 

If your current truck doesnt suit your needs, go for the DC man!

 

Whew! When I first read your title, I thought for sure you were jumping ship to a TUNDRA from your other post!

As far as a DC, I love mine & the 4x4. List the pros & cons. Sounds as if you are weighing all options out than with your last purchase due to unforseen circumstances. Best of luck with the truck you end up with, as an enthusiast, you'll certainly have lots of knowledge going in to the buy.

 

That's why I got ride of my x-runner I missed having 4x4 and my 11 month old didn't fit in the back easily.

You may not use the 4x4 much, but having it is good. Double Cabs are AWESOME!!!

I got rid of my AC for my DC, and I don't regret it a bit. My only regret is that I didn't get the DC in the first place. I use the crap out of this thing.

 

My Tacoma will never go off road but if I were you, I'd do it! Have fun with.

 

Keep your truck. You really need a DCab? With the money you saved by not trading then buying a another 4x4 truck you can get a Moto or ATV and off-road yourself crazy.

 

How do you know what your trade in value is for your truck? Did you get it from the internets, or did you get an actual quote from a dealer in writing? You'd be surprised at the difference, and as you know this isn't the best of times to trade in a truck. I'd be very skeptical about whatever trade in value you're using.

The white is awesome. I love all the Taco colors, except that gold color. Its not my thing.

They are SR5s, no TRD.

Thats one of the great things about this. I know these Tacomas pretty damn well so I know what to look for as far as potential problems ect. The Taco is the only vehicle out there that suits all of my needs that I truley love.

The Tundra, as awesome as they are, is just to big for me to have right now. I dont really need that much of a truck or towing power, one day I might. Just not Today.

I hear ya on this not being a good time to trade in a truck. The value I'm working off is actualy from a few dealers offers. I had been looking at Jeep Wranglers over the last month or so but have decided against them because they don't drive very well, are slow and get much worse MPG than the Taco.

 

When I started looking at the Tacoma, I was interested in the Access Cab model. After test driving, I just did not feel like there was enough room for my buddies and our gear. I ended up getting a Double Cab and have never regretting it once. I chose the 4x4 because I live in the Northeast where we get lots of snow.

I think you should go for it and get a DC 4x4.

 

I have a 4x4 dc, and I love it but I really don't use the back seats much. I always wondered if I had gotten an access cab if I would have been o.k. You have a sweet truck, so you should write a pros and cons list. State the obvious and the not so, then play the devils advocate to yourself. What if you were in a dealers showroom, what would be the deal breakers, what would be the items that you could do without ? I'll tell you, I live in the Northeast, and I don't use the 4x4 all that much, but when I do it's awesome, but I don't like paying for it. When the front is engaged, the mileage is cut in half. The 5 ft bed is sometimes a bit short, but I'll live with it. Buying used these days is scary, I say stay where you are at and be happy.
