If anyone is thinking about lifting or improving their factory suspension , and are thinking about Fox or Bilstein this is my personal experience with both of them. My truck is the Inferno Tacoma , and I went with the Fox 2.0 coil-over in the front ,and the Fox 985-24-117 remote reservoir in the rear pair with a 2 inch block (If you have a 2-3 inch rear lift this is the one you need). The ride is firm and well control especially when cornoring and stoping , there is no nose diving at all, Off road is the same but a little too firm .

The Barcelona red Tacoma belongs to a friend of mine , it has the new Bilstein 6112 up front and 5160 also reservoir in the rear with 1.5 block. The ride is way smoother and softer than the Fox , but not as control . I think the Bilstein shocks are way better than the Fox , especially when you go over bumps or bad roads, plus they are cheaper

    - Fox 2.0 price $1500.00 with out install
    - Bilstein $1200.00 at Amazon

If you live in the new orleans (west bank) area Diamond Audio can sale / install your new suspension, If you just want a leveling kit is about $410.00 install, or you can bring your own suspension and they will install too.

What suspension are you guys using ? and how is the ride ?

Love my 6112 / 5160 combo. Super plush! Only on second notch up front with Icon AAL on the rear.

Sorry to go a bit off topic (kinda relavant I guess), but anyone know when Bilstein is planning on updating the 6112 for the 2016+ model. I'd heard somewhere (forget what thread) that this was happening.

When I spoke to them they said they are releasing it after SEMA. December or Early 2017.

I believe the 6112 is one inch longer than the 5100 , since the 16 tacoma are a inch taller to make up for it. you can use the 5100 on a 3rd generation but you will loose an inch front lift.

What kind of off roading do yall do? I got the fox shox to hit ruts and bumps at 50-60 mph and still can do regular trails. If you run fox I would also recommend removing sway bar since they are stiffer.

Why did you change out the lower control arm? What's the purpose?

5100s are about an inch smaller in diameter and hold less oil. the 6112 come with a tuned spring for their intended application where the 5100 does not come with a spring and you need to use your stock or buy your own like OME. they are both height adjustable. the 6112 is intended for some hard off-roading where the 5100 is more for the everyday driver and weekend off-roader. both great struts but it depends on what you're looking to achieve

Great love it .... stiffer and no roll yet smooth on bumps no matter how big. Off road the rear end stays planted and actually digs in when hitting the gas... no more jumping & bouncing around like with the stock setup. No more nose diving on braking either. ... over all I feel better planted and its definitely a lot smoother than the stock Sport ride.
