So today bought myself and the wife mountain bikes. I have been wanting one for a long time and got bought a set of Ghost's for a year end deal. We are excited about it.
I was wondering what kind of bike mount setups are out there. Have search a bunch and noticed on most setups, would have to remove front wheels. Out of sheer laziness I would.rather not have that style mount. Plus would have hers to deal with as well. Are there any good setups that I can mount mine and hers on or in the bed of the truck without removing the tires?

    Thanks

Dude really? Its a mountain bike. That means its exercise. And the front wheels are quick release hubs. It takes no more than 15 seconds to put the wheel on. Sure you can throw the bikes in the bed and let them slide around. Or you can get a trailer hitch mounted bike rack. But of course it actually takes longer to dismount the bikes than to throw a front wheel on.

Get a tailgate pad & you can just throw the front wheels over the tailgate.

I'm a big fan of this style. It's what I would use if it weren't for my shell and platform. I just lay mine on its side and deal with the occasional loose pedal and hole in the end of my grips. I had a hitch-mounted platform-style bike rack for a while but sold it. It was inconvenient, slow to mount/dismount the bike, and took up too much space in my basement even though it collapsed. The only other thing I can think of is like a normal bike rack you see outside libraries mounted in the bed, but that would take up a lot of space and not be very secure. The ones that make you take off your wheel take up no space and hold your bike in pretty well. It really does take about 15 seconds to remove and reinstall a front wheel.

Yeah, I'd do this all the time when I had my bike. Id run a cable lock through the bed cleats and have the bike in the center just so it would be a little harder to potential thieves. No matter what though when you have a $3k bike out in the open you can never be too safe.

Use the bed for gear. Only all metal rack on market. Probably the lightest and most compact too since it is Al not steel. You can run 1, 2, 3, or 4 bikes at a time.

    although it's pricey...

I am an avid mountain biker as well, from BC Canada, which is more or less known as the mecca of mountain biking.

A lot of people here use the "north shore" rack, but the most popular is just a simple tailgate pad from dakine or evoc etc. That's what i would use.

Welcome to a great activity. Pedal on. I toss my bike in the bed, but I'm usually solo. Otherwise I hang it over the tail gate. Watch out those pads can really destroy your paint if you don't ever remove it. Dirt gets back there and just sands stuff.

Just like what others have suggested, get a tailgate pad and throw it in there. Dakine, Yakima and Raceface makes them.

Tailgate pad is the best thing i have found. Had the fork mount, hitch mount and this is the easyist. The only thing is locking it. So i bought a bike chair lock and lock it down to my hitch of the bed mounts. I like this because you dont have to take wheels off and you can just go.

Hitch racks are the best options. Less drag, no taking wheels off etc.

Hell ya man. Just had this made for my truck. The bolt is acid etiched so it looks white in the sun.
