I see, same as the sport. I was just curious because I picked up an off road skid from a second gen and it fits right over this black skid. Looks nice too, i guess 3rd gens cut that extra skid for the offroad edition

 

Got this one Oct 14th. Really like interior/exterior combo. Getting familiar with all tech stuff.

Do you have any lift on this? Where did you get the rims, do you mind if I ask how much they set you back

 

It's all stock man! I was really surprised how much of a difference the rims and tires made. I got the rims from Toyota of Escondido right outside San Diego. For tires and rims it cost me 1550.

 

Added Toyota Factory Running Boards (

PT212-35055)... its worth noting these Gen2 running boards fit the Gen3 trucks. You can get them online for under $300 vs the $600+ for the Gen3 Toyota Factory boards

 

Do you know what the actual difference is between your Gen 2 boards and the new Gen 3 boards? New owner of a 17 TRD OR and trying to decide what I want. Like the running boards but concerned they are too high to be used as steps.

 

The Gen3 boards are solid aluminum, where these seem to be steel with a plastic cover. They sit at the same height. Gen3 are better quality for sure, just not worth another $400 in my opinion

Just picked mine up last Monday!! 2017 TRD Sport AC MT. First mod done Monday afternoon - replaced the shift knob. Got the tires mounted on TRD wheels on Tuesday, installed the Softopper on Saturday. Also put a RAD grille on the front with a black trim piece from an SR5. Loving the truck. Racked up 400 miles on it this week.

 

Was it hard to change out the shifter knob?

 

Not at all. The only trick was figuring out what to do with the shifter boot - I ended up just zip tying it from the bottom (had to lift the console out - pretty easy, and do it from the under side). The shift knob I got is a M1 Abrams in graphite from AJT Designs. I'll post a pic later this morning - gotta have my coffee!
