I agree with mostly everything you mentioned besides the resale value, maybe in certain areas that see a lot of off road use but let's be real for a minute, I think we can say that 80 percent and possibly more do not use their trucks for off roading. The sport and sr5 favor a much larger market than people that actually use the truck for off roading. I'm not saying this because I have a sport but I also had a off road and I think for someone that does not plan to spend anytime off road, the sport and sr5 provides a better option. I liked the ride of the off road but it was a bit too loose for me, I'm sure that has a lot to do with the forgiving suspension compared to the stiffer sport. my point is that the off road does not make sense for a large majority of Tacoma owners so i do not think one can make the case for it having better resale value. My trial
Premium 4Runner would have fetched a much larger premuim if I was in a state that has a much larger following for off road vehicles, same goes for the Tacoma.

Not really, just look at the hood swapping thread. There are a lot of people that want the scoop. So yea it's fake. I think it looks good.

I have a bigger pair of rayban aviator type. I actually use that freaking sun glass holder. First vehicle I have ever used it. Actually has a nice little rubber pad in it. In Arizona if you dont have sunglasses all you are left with is shriveled raisins for eyeballs.

Off road is supposedly more sought after so many are saying it will have a better resale value (this isn't the first thread on this)

Many will want the OR even if they don't use it for off road just to say they have an off road.
I mean lets me real here, how many people on here have lifts and 33" tires or bigger and will never leave the pavement. Majority of them are just mall crawlers and will love to have the off road to say they off road.
Regardless both will have a high resale since they're a tacoma, but for resale from highest to lowest

Seriously in both my Jetta and parents forester I cannot fit them in the sunglass holder without worrying they'll break

I agree the OR is more sought after. Probably has a better resale value, but not by much I think

You forgot the additional hydraulic brake booster on the OR.

Sport has same brakes as the SR5, same color matched flares as the SR5, same air dam as the SR5, same sunglasses holder as the SR5, same offroad capabilities as the SR5..... but you have a scoop to distinguish it from the SR5 and you paid the same as an OR.

    Case closed, buy an SR5!

That's true and I see your point, I just think it has a lot to do with the area, at dealers in my area you might see one off road compared to maybe 3-4 sports and the rest sr and sr5. From what the dealer told me, the buyers wanting an off road often order them or have them do dealer trade. If I lived in Colorado I'm sure it would be the opposite. I actually think the sr and sr5 will hold better than off road and sport because of the price point. It's a bargain compared to a fully
Loaded sport it off road. In 3 years my 40k truck might be worth around 28 I'm guessing and I'm sure the off road will be close to that. A 32k sr will be worth around 25 I'm thinking, it will not drop as much because the initial price was much less than others compared.

Well on that note it took me 5 months and 8 different dealers to finally find one with an OR to let me test drive.
Most of them do not have any in stock as they all come in and get sold right away where they have a bunch of sports and SR5s..so I'm thinking not as much of a demand for them.

That being the case they are more sought after.

Again. Location location location. I see 5 sports to every off road. Go somewhere else and that will change.

I went with the Sport knowing I would re-gear and add lockers both front and rear, and I liked its looks...I thought that the crawl control was just a gimmickry, although some may like it...Im just old school like that. The OR is a fine truck and is plug and play out of the box, and is a great choice, I just like adding things that have worked for me in the past and also a big fan of ARB lockers.

A loaded sr5 is around 37 and that does not include bsm and jbl so the price difference is not that much, not sure many would pay 37 for an sr5 if they can have a loaded sport or off road for a few grand more.
