What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Picked up a canopy for $50. It is the exact same color and has a full lift side window. Just gotta respray the clear coat and fix the back door window thing.

I agree, AGM is the way to go. Unfortunately, odyssey has stopped making batteries for sears so the diahard platinum is no longer available.

Another option is Northstar. A well designed AGM type and comes with a 4 year warranty and made in USA. I am running 2 of their 24Fs.

 

One of the things I miss the most about CA, well really the only thing, is the public land. Just about every national forest has tons of trails to explore, you can camp and shoot almost anywhere and best of all you rarely run into many people.

I've been noticing battery warranties have been decreasing across brands.

Having trouble commenting on my phone past 2 days. i was trying to say i just put a motomaster agm battery in my truck. well see how it holds up. 5 year warranty anyways.

 

Not too bad, its a really light canopy though, I can lift it by myself. It did play a bit nicer on the highway though

 

Now I know why almost everything we need to change out should be OEM. $150 for an O'Reilly's alternator only lasted 6 months before it started to over charge a little bit and melted the plastic piece that covers the wire that charged the battery. Still waiting for shipment though on an OEM alternator I placed Friday.

 

I like it. Add character.

How much is an OEM alternator these days?

Mine have too much, they ride nice when loaded down but kinda poopy without the weight. No complaints here though, I'll pull a leaf when I throw the Icons in.

 

I killed my passenger spring though...when i wrecked my 04 it sat on the truck negative for like 2 months and now my truck leans to the passenger side. Pisses me off

 

Oh, that's a bummer, at least Dakars don't break the bank. My truck leans to the driver side cause its a straight up dick hole. But hopefully a little extra driver side preload on the icons can tame that a bit.

 

Yeah they are good spring for lifting and riding empty. Feel good when loaded too, but i think i am going to change it up here soon with all the added weight i now have

 

I think the 98-04 Dakars have a bit less capacity. The 89-95 pickup Dakars I'm using can carry near 600lbs before I see them begin to flex and play nicely. I'm hoping they weaken a bit when I pull leaves. I wish they would just barely be springy with just the topper weight so any additional just reduces the rear to butter.
