Hopefully I can find a rebuild kit for this thing... Pretty disappointed I really haven't gotten that much use out of it yet. Might as well have bought a cheapo.

I'm sure I've put less than 25-30 cutoff disks through it. It worked great until today. Maybe it's time to switch brands, I've always liked Milwaukee tools because I live in Wisconsin and they were always good, but these newer made in China units are obviously not as high of quality as the old ones.

    Rant over lol

I may copy your design but its gonna be a lot easier because my dad has a Plasma torch CNC machine in the gayrage. Now i just gotta work on my welds!

Nice... Some day I'll have at least a plasma cutter.

We have one at work but they don't allow us to use it off the clock. As far as copying my design feel free man that's why I try to put as many dimensions as I can.

A lot of the stuff I build, I build in my head a thousand different ways before I actually build it a certain way. I always like pulling as many ideas as possible before setting on something certain.

It's really starting to take shape. One spanky looking bumper! Did you think of having the exhaust coming out the back, incorporating it with the bumper?

I did think about it though, it's just that having it go under the bumper defeats the point of high clearance and going through the the bumper I don't think would workout very well. I used to have an 86 Toyota pickup that I had the pipes out the back and it was pretty cool but I had big chrome tips on it, I'm not going for the chrome look on this truck though.

The reason I won't buy Rigids is because I know how fast some one can steal them. That's why I like the middle brands such as rough country and mictuning

You could also cut your exhaust right after the muffler...

    This is another option.

Honestly if rigids where 5x more then the Chinese brands I would consider them but at over 20x the price I would rather save for a plasma cutter. I haven't herd of the mid brands though thanks I'll look into them.

You could go out the back with turn downs on a 45 so the exhaust wouldn't sit Under the box. When it gets cold that's no fun trying to back up.

The main difference between the cheaper brands and rigid is the light output. The rigids are way brighter and they go further out. One of my friends has a rigid 30" single row on his truck and I have a 32" double row OPT7 light bar and his is noticeable brighter than mine but I still see everything I would ever want to see. I could also understand buying rigids if your vehicles main purpose was for night off-roading, mine is nothing more than a daily driver so cheaper brand lights will do more than fine for me

Small update for the day: bought some edge trim for the cut portion of the box, autozone $4.

If you know what a millwright is that's pretty close to what my job is. Building bumpers isn't very expensive though, i think I have $120 in steel in the rear that I bought. And maybe $50 in lights cutoff disks and other random stuff.

Stopped by my parents house and borrowed a harbor freight grinder that's probably over ten years old... We'll see how it holds up, it can't be any worse than the last one. image.jpg Now it's time to get back to work.
