Awesome!! Thanks for the good info.

So if i did need to trim it would be just the liner and not the actual fender?

Then go with a 32 like i did.

Also, upper control arms would be a very wise investment.

I already know i need them. You probably do too.

This is at full droop up front: notice the UCA resting on the coil

Some people have to notch the fender flares themselves.

But most people with 285s end up chopping the front cab mounts as well. Which is a big job because you have to have plates welded in after the chop.

You don't have to... a few of our hardcores don't have plates in their cmc

When I first lifted my truck I had 17x9 at -12mm offset and 285/70-17 and just needed some minor trimming to the fender liners. After off roading and the springs starting to sag from the 5100s set at 2.5" I slowly needed to trim more. And then the cab mount chop came later down the road, but if my truck stayed on the road idk if I would have needed it. Just my .2 as everyone's truck ends up a little different and I was totally ok with trimming, but that's not what everyone wants to do.

I just mounted these today. KMC XD wheels with 285/70 - 17s BFG KO2s. Trimmed the front inner wheel trim at the tire store, still needs a bit more. No lift yet, great ride on brand new 5100 Bilsteins. I'd like to level it. IMG_4684.jpg

You can put spacers in the bump stops to limit your up travel, so the tires don't eat your fenders. Just put on Wheeler's Superbumps and add spacer until you don't hit.

But those guys are running body lifts too.

And some will eventually relocate that cab mount to fit 37s

That all depends on your long term plans. 285s look great on these trucks. So do 315s...

    I wouldn't go that far...

But it'll be annoying finding tires to fit such wide wheels...most of what you'll find will fit 6-8" wide or 7-8.5" wide wheels
