Wheels sticking out

What do I need or what do I need to do to make my tires/wheels stick out a bit? I don't want them to stick out a ton, but a few inches on each side. I am getting some 31s soon and think it would look meaner if they stuck out a little bit.

Hehe. You need a negative offset closer to 0. All you need is a -4 to -4.5

Though, this is a regular ol' -4.5 and a beefy wide tire. Some tires are generally wider (Nitto, Toyo) than others (ie, BFGs)

 

You guys and your wheel spacers! YUCK!

I've seen too many "issues" with spacers on the track and so far. Our trucks wont push the limits of spacers like tracked cars but still.

Those wouldnt get you the look you want because of the width of the wheel. Go with a 9" wide wheel.

Here's mine with stock TRD Sport wheels and Spidertrax spacers and 33's...if my wheel bearings wear out I suppose I'll just replace them.



IMO, the perfect amount of "stick-out-ness"!

 

do a google search for "wheel backspacing" and "wheel offset"

gusher, I was thinking of more "stick out ness" than that. Like, 3 inches on each side


edit- crager makes a wheel that is 15"x10". How would that make the tires sit? Would 31x10.5R15 fit them?

bad info... OP is a 1st gen taco... completely different stock backspace...

 

your stock backspace is 4.5"

if you are going to run 31s and want the tires to stick out, you want to go with a 15" wheel with 3.75" backspace which is pretty standard for most 1 st gen 15" wheels...

if you want to stick out even further, a lot of the older 1st gen rock crawlers were running D-window steel wheels in 2.5" to 3.5" backspace...

with 31s though, sticking out that much will look like you are running low profile tires...

your best bet, look into either 15s in 3.75" backspace first and see if you like them out that far... if you want to go more extreme, then look into some 1" wheel spacers...

 

4.75" backspace will sit way too close inside the wheel well...

also, if you search "soft 8 wheels" in most of the tacoma forums, you will see a number of threads where folks have not been able to fit those wheels on 1st gen tacos for years without a wheel spacer, so you can drop the money on the wheels linked above and drop more money on 1" wheel spacers, or try to find another style of steel wheel in 3.75" backspace...

How about these? The type B, or maybe even the 15x10 version? Would the 15x10 version fit 31x10.5x15 tires? Opinions?
