Are the valve stems on the 4runner like the TPMS factory ones on our trucks?

If they are, the brass fitting on the Powertank looks identical to the one I just tried on my modified ARB. It was a "CTA Tools 1930 Straight Lock-On Air Chuck"

I had the same issue. When I built it, it worked on my wife's Nisan fine, rubber valve stems I think. I tried it on the truck this weekend and I was like, this POS is getting sent back!

 

The problem is with where they placed the valve stem itself.



Picture swiped from an image search. See how it is recessed into that stylized lug? That opening is really quite small and limits the size of chuck that can fit into it. I think I'm going to buy her an inflator and change the chuck out to a round knurled slip locking type so that we don't have to rely on what I keep in my tool bag.

I returned the one on the right as I was not happy with it.

The Coilhose one works great, it has two pieces of metal which grip the valve stem making a really solid connection. The clip on one on the right, like the original ARB, only had one, and didn't work as well as I initially thought.

I like the Open chuck vs. the closed chuck, because I can use the open version to blow dust off and out of my truck after finishing a trail in the desert.

What's up with the tape?

 

Not a QD, it's an air chuck called Coilhose that looks like a QD.

Here it is laid out:

ARB tire inflator + 8mm OD Hose Barb 9.5mm 1/8BSP Brass Coupler + hose clamp + your longer air hose + barb to 1/4 MNPT + Coilhose air chuck.​

Search back two pages in this thread for details, or build thread has it listed too.

@ramonortiz55 tape is a safety feature, covers the stainless size 4 hose clamp that secures the hose to barb.

Just ordered this after trying to decide which one to get. It was between the Superflow MV90 and the Air Armor M240.

I went with the Air Armor M240. Found a discount code here It says it ended but it just now worked for me. Its 80 bucks off.

Anyone tried a Vixen 200psi kit with a 3 gallon tank? It says air horns but shouldn't it work for tires to? And lockers with a regulator?

 

What is the perk to mount here vs under the hood is it not noisy when filling the tank?

 

I'd say it's cleaner but judging by that picture lol. With the dual compressor filling a tank shouldn't take long. Also there's a lot of insulation because of the seat I would think it wouldn't be a problem.

 

I guess I view it differently. Being a cdl driver it's weird not having a belt driven compressor. Even weirder for it to be located at the rear of the truck.

 

Keeping it clean and dry mainly. Also its incredibly hard to make a mount to fit it under the hood without relocating something. When I have it on to run the lockers it isn't too noisy because the seat back is blocking a lot and isn't running constantly. When I am filling tires it is loud but I also lean the back of the seat forward for more ventilation. Also I don't run a tank. Don't have a need big enough to spend the money for it

Its inside the cab, behind my rear seat. The second place I would have put it is inside the bed side in the back.

 

Questions:

If one were to mount the ARB CMKTA12 On-Board Twin Air Compressor under the hood for a 2nd Gen taco (or even the single ARB CKMA12 Heavy Duty Air Compressor), would there be room to install a snorkel?

If either of these were used, would it allow for a snorkel?

It's difficult to tell from the photos on Slee Off-Road.

My plan is to use the air compressor to inflate my tires after wheeling. Somewhere down the road, I may install a front locker...so, I'm thinking the twin would be the better option but space is the concern.

The Slee mount does not conflict with the OE airbox or intake tube

I installed the single ARB CKMA12 Heavy Duty Air Compressor, mounted it with the Slee Off-Road–Tacoma Single Compressor Bracket (SOK-0002) in my hood.

Now, I want to relocate the air source (quick connect/disconnect) to the rear of the taco. In order to do so, what are the exact parts I will need to buy at the hardware store (or online)?

From the list of products discussed in this thread (at the bottom of the pages), would these apply for my situation?

1. 12" or longer stainless steel braided leader hose without check valve -- to connect directly to the air compressor between the T-fitting and the pressure switch?
