So I recently purchased a set of Vivid H4 LED headlight bulbs and stupid me didn't check for figment before purchasing. Everything fits and works besides the boot that goes around the back of the bulb to seal against the elements. After a quick look online, I saw someone suggest picking up the boots from an F-150 or tundra, would these work or am I SOL and just need to pick up a different pair of bulbs?

Best answer: use halogen bulbs. Use higher wattage ones if you really want the brightness.

A lot. Check out my build page.
It'll fit. You have to generally take the plastic piece off, put it in the boot and then install. If you are in Colorado I can help if needed.

PS - The time change happened this past weekend and my rush hour commute home is in the dark and I am growing tired of blinding people with my LEDs. I will probably yank them until I can do a complete retrofit solution with a proper projector housing to aim that LED light. Just my experience.

The only way to do LEDs is with a full LED housing, and those aren't cheap. Neither halogen nor HID housings can properly focus LED light.

Full LED housing? You mean a proper retrofit with a projector? Also not cheap but assuming thats what you mean.

I have run my LEDs for 2 years. Really they are fine. It's not the travesty some try and whip it up to be. I just want to go back to a lower light output in my stock housing and re-evaluate when I get a proper retrofit.

Using Hella as an example, a Hella 90 mm bi-xenon projector is $562 a pair. A Hella 90 mm bi-LED projector is $710 a pair. Prices taken from rallylights.com. There are Koito bi-LEDs, but there are no US sellers selling them.

If you have a proper light distribution, you wouldn't be blinding other drivers regardless of how bright your lights are.

Thank you all for replying so quickly, @crashnburn80 I read up on your post and found it very intriguing. However, I have been running the PIAA LED bulbs with none of the issues that were posted in there, it might be because they are not directional like the post was referring to. But, I have no way to return these bulbs I have already, and just want to make them work since I already shelled out the $.
@scottclarkinco How do you make them fit? I tried for awhile and got nowhere trying to get them in there and I always have a gap. I dont see how putting the boot over first will make any difference in the gap I have.

You don't notice the issues because you don't know what to look for. That is typically the case with people that "upgrade" to LED or HID bulbs. The Vivid bulbs you got are among the worst you can get for H4, as they have no shield to cut down on the glare they will produce.

Thanks for the info again, Im contacting Vivid to see if I can't return them. @crashnburn80 Do you (or anyone else in this thread) have any experience with the halogen bulbs from The Retrofit Source? Saw those just recently and they may be a good alternative.

Must be a new development that The Retrofit Source sells halogen bulbs, at least I have never noticed them on the site before. The Osram Nightbreaker Unlimiteds (what I see TRS now carries) are the stock wattage halogen bulbs I have been recommending for over a year. Solid choice for those that don't want to do any additional upgrades other than swapping the bulbs.

However if you want vastly superior output, I suggest the ultimate halogen upgrade:
