EDIT: So the vent mounts are officially for sale here:

    http://www.hondogarage.com/index.php/product/landing/un-holey-dash-mount-tacoma-2016

The first production run will start on Monday, so We'll start shipping on Tuesday in the order the orders are received (we do our own anodizing so the turnaround is fast). And as I mentioned before, I can give 10% off to TW folks... just use the discount code: 5rolledtacos

    Hi,

I own a company that makes off-road phone (and soon tablet) mounts for dual-sport motorcycles and I bought a new Tacoma last week and of course wanted to use one of my phone mounts. So after a couple of days of prototyping I made a Ram ball mount that bolts into the heater vent and should be completely sturdy enough for serious off-road use. So far it's worked great in my truck but I'd like to get a few more people to test it out for fit and performance before I offer them up for sale on our website.

So if anyone is planning on taking their 3rd gen out on some real trails within the next couple of weeks, send me a message if you'd be willing to test out one of the mounts and send some photos and feedback. The mount is shown in the photos below and requires no drilling as it clamps to the ridge inside the vent hole. It does limit the amount of adjustment you get with the vent, but doesn't block it off completely.

I've got 3 prototypes I can send out but I want to make sure they'll see some off-road use within 1-2 weeks.

    Outstanding looking product.
I've been searching for something similar for which to mount a phone and/or tablet on. The TechDeck for the 2ndGen seemed pretty solid but I haven't heard back from them if there will be a 3rd gen option.

This looks like it will serve my needs once I get my Tacoma.

Like I said, still testing, but this one locks in and spreads the load around the entire vent ring. It is very very solid. They're made out of anodized aluminum and the threaded holes use the standard AMPS hole pattern, so most of the Ram ball varieties will bolt right to it.

I'm willing to help test it out, not sure how serious the trails would be I'll be using, but can help test.

Awesome design. I doubt I could help you test but I will put this on my 'must have' list if you do decide to sell them.
