Unbelievable! Have you contacted Coorprate and started a case? Start the process if you haven't. It's important to get the support you deserve....

I'm not sure if I've ever dealt with Jim or not, maybe wait and see how the truck drives after your appointment, and if need be, call up there and ask for a different service person. I've dealt with Bryan D. and Chris Y., and don't have any complaints.

Well even though I have not experienced much if any of the transmission issues I did agree it could be improved. I took my chances with a different dealer than where I even bought the Taco from and got there today and met with the service adviser. He asked what I was there for and I handed over this TSB. He said he had just done one last week and has known about this for sometime but no one as of last week had stopped in. He said it would also fix the "rumble strip shudder" when slowing down. I seriously doubted that.

they flashed the ECM, checked enTune for any updates (none) and said they test drove it and all was well.

So far I cant really tell much if any difference in the way the truck drives - but the "rumble strip shudder" is still present but at least NOW its been documented on my service record. So who knows. I've never been able to explain why my truck didnt have the 'hunting for gears' issue that others have had but at least this transmission is flashed.

I just got my ECM flashed today and I now drive the Tacoma I should have had from Day 1. I know, I know, the thrill may disappear in 1000 miles or so, but until then, I'm going to enjoy the better throttle response and the much improved highway cruising experience. It now feels like I actually pull away from a stop in 1st instead of 2nd or 3rd.

When I scheduled my 5K check at Fox Toyota and requested the ECM update, I got push-back from the service lady- "We just don't do a T-SB because there is one". So, I expected the worst when I pulled in. i explained to the service rep and handed him a copy of the T-SB (Rev. 1). He promised to "check on it"- not a good sign. I peeped into the service bay a little later and saw my Tacoma with a Tech Stream connected, so I crossed my fingers. Sure enough, in about an hour they had completed the 5K and performed the T-SB. I verified the T-SB was listed on my voucher and it now shows in my service history. I wish I knew if it was the Rev. 0 or Rev. 1 of the T-SB.

I'm very pleased with the Fox Toyota service I got and will continue to use them, even though there are two closer dealerships (completely unsolicited endorsement).

At the risk of fanning the flames of this whole transmission issue, I remember reading in one of the earlier threads that Toyota may issue another transmission update that would include valving changes, etc. that would be the final fix. Was this just rumor and wishful thinking?

Oh, I don't have any complaints as of now. Jim R. wasn't there today so I spoke with Jonathan S. this a.m. when I dropped the Tacoma off and he had heard about the TSB. I gave him a description of the problem, requested a physical check of the ATF, and discussed resetting the adaptive software since it had probably learned the wrong shift points. I called him this evening and he said the tech had conducted multiple tests and reflashed the ecm. He had not, however, tested the ATF. I remained firm on this so they're keeping it overnight to test it in the morning. I have to admit, this mystifies me. My understanding of when you think you might have a transmission problem the first thing you do is check your ATF level. I can't help there's not a dipstick. I can't help that testing the ATF on the 3rd gens. is an involved process. You don't check the ATF because it's easy, you check it because that's the first step in a process of discovery. If the Tacoma had a dipstick for it, that would be the first thing they would pull and check.

Other than my mystification on that topic, these folks have been courteous and professional so I don't have the nightmare service story others have had.

Also, if I hadn't found this forum I probably would have driven it as is and chalked it up to my lack of knowledge of 6-speed transmissions and new cars in general. I bought my last new vehicle in 2006 and the vehicles today are like spaceships to me. So thanks, TacomaWorld. You may have saved my transmission, pocketbook, and sanity.

Yeah, they have the best service department of any other dealership that I have dealt with. And the fact that the truck doesn't have a transmission dipstick, is crazy stupid, IMO. But it's been said many times before, that a few of the 3rd gens problems, could've been avoided if the dealers/manufacture had simply checked fluid levels!:annoyed:

Another TSB to help finally fix the underlying issues would be awesome. Driving around town at slower speeds the damn trans likes to mid shift and create at times the shift flare. Keep us posted if you hear more on a secondary TSB!

So took my '17 OR 4x4 DCSB in this morning to get the tsb update as well as have them check the ATF. Got a lot of the same song and dance from the service guy about u don't check the atf manually. Came back at lunch and they had it ready. Service guy told me after plugging into it that my truck had the latest info available for my truck and that there wasn't an update even though my vin fell under ones that should qualify.
They did techstream the tranny and it registered it low (300mL), they filled it and drove a couple miles and said it felt better. I can attest that it felt smoother and less guessy about where it wanted to be. Only been a few miles of city errand running driving but better so far. Hope this helps others.

So I had the TSB 0077-16 done in August. Is there an updated TSB to 0077-16 available?

Ok good to know. It is one of those things where, once I did it, I stopped coming into this thread and then today I thought I saw someone say there was an update on page 125...

No new updates. Revision 1 does not exist on Toyota's servers.

0077-16 still exists the same as it has since its release. It has not been revised. It works for 2016 and some 2017 models. Only dealers or people with a techstream lite can scan the ECU to determine the current calibration that is installed.

Some of the countless threads about the same exact shift issues and radio rebooting issues should be deleted or merged together or something... Or closed and linked to one sole remaining open one. It is confusing when someone is wrong in thread a saying there is something available but those people saw in thread b that there is nothing available.

Oh well just another disappointment. After a few months you get numb to the hopes of a real long lasting fix to these problem transmissions. Drove mine 1 day in the past 2 weeks. Going to remain parked with 8200 miles, at least 5 days a week, until an update comes out or I trade it for another new F150. Fortunately I have another great shifting low mileage car to drive in the mean time.

my guess is it's the same TSB, just to include more problems to allow dealers to perform it on more complaints, "Busy shift like hinting gear behavior when driving on highway speed/slight grade"

Anyone know if it's the same flash or different flash from the first TSB i would assume that if it was a different flash, it'd be a different TSB?
