I purchased the 60,000km platinum extended warranty last October because it brought my interest rate down and ended up being cheaper.
It included 8 free oil changes.
Yesterday during a scheduled oil change they said I only have 3 free ones total. today I spoke fith a financial manager and they said the warranty has changed. ( without asking me or telling me)
So now instead of 60,000km, its 48,000km. im at 32,000 already, and only 3 free oil changes.
I am going to try and fight this and have them honour the warranty I signed for, 60,000km with 8 free oil changes. they said something about this saving me money because I dont have to pay for them to "inspect" my vehicle for the normal service schedules. But i have and can continue to grease the driveline, check my brakes, rotate tires, inspect filters ect ect...
Id rather have the 8 free oil changes and i can do all the other stuff in my driveway myself.
Seems like im getting ripped off.
So just a heads up for all of you who purchased the platinum warranty in 2015 They switched it on us without telling us.20161108_160950.jpg 20161108_161028.jpg 20161108_161127.jpg

I'd recommend talking to a lawyer.
After signing and what not, not sure they can legally change it.

    Somethings fucky here

That's seriously messed up. I doubt they can legally do this. You paid for an agreed-upon service - a contract - and they can't simply back out of their end of the deal.

Agreed, if you signed a contract stating one thing then they can't change the terms without your consent (unless it was written somewhere in the original contract you signed that they could, better read the fine print closely).

Regardless, that's fucked up of them to do without even saying anything. Typical.

Seriously I wouldn't even care about the oil changes, its the sudden change in how long your warranty is for.
I'll be doing my own oil changes so I don't care about that.
I paid for 140K gold extended warranty, if they are to change that you can bet your ass I'll be going to small claims court over it. If it has to be brought to a class action lawsuit so be it.

Dude seriously if I was you, consider going to a news outlet.
Nothing will worry toyota more than negative press over their extended warranty and them changing it without notice.

Out of curiosity how much did you pay for ecp? What plan and length?

I'm debating it and it's not that often we get a Canadian based thread on here. I'm in Manitoba.

haven't even taken delivery of my truck yet lol.

not sure mine is the extended service plan though.
Just powertrain warranty which is really my only concern with the known issues of the 3rd gen

It doesn't show something different than what I paid for on the toyota.ca site so dunno.

Not even ethical let alone legal. They can make changes on a go forward basis but to retroactively change a purchased "right"....not going to happen. I would ask for a business card from the finance guy, the name of the owner of the dealership and a contact at Toyota Corporate. I would then ask all if they will honor in writing the contract "we" signed. One chance to respond with a yes or you will begin a social media campaign to find others who have been ripped off and contact CBC GO PUBLIC. You can have greed or honour....you can't have both. Toyota Canada is an honorable business or it is not.

Im not accepting anything but for them to honour my original warranty. i did not pay, agree and sign for anything else let alone did they ask or let me know that it has changed. it took me argueing with the tech about how many services and oil changes I have left covered. plus my girlfriend dug a bit and the fine print said they guarentee nothing can change unless theres a change in ownership.
IMO they owe me an explanaition AND compensation for trying to pull a fast one on me..

My original was for 60,000km plus 8 oil changes platinum warranty. they switched it to 36,000km (im already at 32,000km) and 6 services which is only 3 oil changes. I cant remember what i payed off hand im at work right now, but the financial advisor worked the math for both warranties and the platinum warranty brought my finance % down drastically and my total with the cost of borrowing ended up alot cheaper with the platinum warranty so I took it.
But i believe theyve switched the warrenties now so i dont even know what they are now. I just want what i agreed to know what i mean.

Unbelievable. That shows a complete lack of integrity on Toyota's part if you ask me.

WTF Toyota? This is something out of Ford's playbook

As coyote54 pointed out, contact CBC GoPublic.

This is 100% bull on toyotas part.

Tomorrow should be interesting. I expect them to own up to their mistake. But then again
