Looking at trading my tacoma for a 4runner. I test drove an SR5 and the ride/interior space was unbelievable. The Trail edition I had my eye on sold, so I've found an SR5 premium that's caught my eye. For someone who offroads a small amount, would the SR5 be sufficient for me? Here's the link. It's had regular oil changes at the dealer, and I really like that since it's the first used vehicle I will be buying. (Only bought new before)

It is amazing how much nicer every little thing is in the 4runner. I traded my 2014 off road 4x4 in for a 2016 SR5 4Runner 4x4 and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. You can tell in every way that you are driving a much better made vehicle. The SR5 4Runner has ATRAC and DAC, so you should be perfect out on the trails. I have wheeled mine down many trails and it performs just as good, if not better than my old Taco.

What is your budget? You could almost get one new for the price on that SR5 Premium.

You should call the salesman I bought my 4Runner from, tell him what you want, and have him look in the computer. Great guy so expect a decent discount off MSRP.

^Thatd be great. The used one is $31,000, but I don't want a sunroof or leather so it's out the window for me. I've been able to find a new SR5 4x4 for $35,000 which I thought was pretty good and right in my budget. I'd like a trail(non premium), but they're really hard to find.

Yeah I don't do technical off road courses either. It'd would mostly be sand on the beach or mud on a hunting lease

    Quite simply if I didn't need a bed, I would have bought a 4Runner in a heartbeat.

Bought my wife a 4R Pro, I find myself driving / liking it a lot better than my taco.

Not everyday, but quite a bit. I thought about getting a 4Runner and a trailer, but I don't have a convenient place to store it. Besides, I like my Tacoma, I just like the 4Runner a little better.

A little, but I have a 10' trailer I use for my needs more than the bed on my Tacoma. Biggest use for the bed is 2 kayaks, but they can go on a roof rack if I were to get a 4Runner.

I just bought a 2011 4Runner Limited a few months ago and was blown away by how much nicer it was inside than the Tacomas that I was looking at. So far i've been on the beach in the dunes at SLP and had absolutely no problems and most of the time I don't even have to use 4WD. The cargo space is great and the folding rear seats help a lot. I was able to fit some large pieces of plywood into the back and close the liftgate no problem.

It's real easy, you just pay for the vehicle there and then bring it back get an inspection, take that, insurance and title/lean info into county tax office and pay the tax and tags.

For what you've said you want to do you should be fine.

One thing I noticed when I was looking at them is that the dealerships often listen them as 4WD when they actually weren't. So if the one you linked to doesn't work out and you're looking on AutoTrader or something similar I would always look for that in the photos of the vehicle.

I hope it all works out!

Yeah I've made sure they're 4x4. This one looks like the leading candidate.

Let us know how that goes. My growing family is pushing me towards 4 runner too. The kids look like sardines in the back of the Tacoma.
