Installing Exhaust on 2010 Taco

I am in search of a meaner sounding performance exhaust system for my new 2010 Taco off-road, dbl-cab.

A complete exhaust system is around $400. I am not convinced it is necessary to spend that kind of money to get the most out of my vehicle.

Would it be possible to buy something something like an FM Super 44 Off-Road Series Muffler and have it installed? What would be the the advantages/disadvantages of doing this vs. purchasing an entire exhaust system?

Would it still give me a 20hp performance boost, and great sound quality? Also, what other parts would I need to purchase in order to properly install the muffler?

I had a 50 series Flowmaster installed with new pipe from the y-pipe back and a polished stainless steel tip welded on $350 including labor. I'm pretty sure your not going to gain 20hp with a new exhaust. Maybe if you put on headers and a new y-pipe. If you install it yourself you are going to need to be able to make new hangers for the muffler.

 

06TRDSport is right I dont think you can get 20hp out of any $400 exhaust, thats what my TRD catback cost I may have gotten 5hp if that but it sounds cool.

magnaflow 11264 here,just cut out and install(welded in)$77 for muffler and $45 to install.chap and easy.sounds good to.imo.

 

If I get the series 44 welded into the stock pipes will it make any difference at all? What are the inlet/outlet pipe sizes I would need to get it to work?

Just called some local shops. $1950 for a full header setup. I don't think so.

 

Try Summit or the other performance shops. I can't remember where I saw it but I found an all-stainless cat-back Dynomax system online for $280's before shipping.

 

Cannot find anything for a 2010 Taco.

This is the biggest issue I am having. I think I am stuck with the FM.
