Cat back exhaust

Ok so u know how on a 4 banger yota, there are two catalytic converters? What if I took the second cat off? Opinions? Sound like shit? Will it cause problems?

 

Talking about the cat closest to the muffler

 

All it will do removing a cat will open the system up more. My guess would be just make it more loud

 

it will make it much louder and not in a good way. I have a spintech muffler on my 4.0 and after a month, i'm already taking it off even thought the sound outside the truck is much deeper than inside, i still feel like im driving a ricer if i exceed 2k RPMs

 

See i already have a magnaflow dual system, 1 in 2 out muffler and I love the tone of it. But I also like the tone of cat back exhaust, for example on a v8 dodge or a v8 f150. But it would prolly sound poopy on a 4 burner wouldn't it? Or good??

 

And if I took the cat off I would still leave my muffler on

 

And a spin tech muffler?

 

And yes I would assume it would be more loud but to what extent? sound like a fart cannon or just louder and still toned out?

 

You will never get a 4 banger to sound like a v6 or v8. Dont look like a fag and keep the cats

 

Cat does act as a muffler of sorts. removing it will make it quite a bit louder aswell as raspier. itl sound fine imo. for a 4 banger anyways.

Best mod soundwise would be a header. changes the tone quite a bit.

 

Hell yea man that almost makes me want todo it lmao. Only problem is passing inspection and finding a shop to do it. And what about high flow cats? @devinzz1

Theres no emissions testing here so i just dont run any cats.

The factory cat is basically high flow. it really Doesn't add any restriction so to take it off and spend money on a high flow model doesn't seem worth it.

If you want it loud and keep the cats to pass tests then get a Y pipe and strait pipe the duel set up you have. I have state inspections where i live and there VERY strict about it. I say keep the cats if you have tests to pass

 

Trueee. I might str8 pipe one day. For now I'll leave it alone I don't wanna just waste 400 on the exhaust system I just had installed. It sounds classy rn too. Once I get bored probably will str8 pipe or take cat off
