Or you can get peed/ puked on/ groped. But I guess whatever floats your boat.

In all seriousness, fuck driving into the city during the week, on a Friday night, on a game night, pretty much any time. Taking the train in is so much easier besides the fact it shuts down at like 11PM.

    Morning peeps!

Saw 2 tacos this morning as BJs while getting gas. If I didn't have my little guy with me I would have gone and talked to both peeps.

One was white with some rims and big ole white mud flaps. The other was blue with some black wheels on it. Both looked sweet, and both were 2012+ because of the front end.

Gotta try and make some Taco friends down around these parts... feel all lonely out here in CT since there's only a handful of us that are on TW.

Most of the areas I've had to drive to are in the middle of Cambridge, the Seaport District or similar, so not easily accessible. Generally, I go in so early that traffic isn't really a concern. Getting home on the other hand... On the rare occurrence I leave at or before 5, it can take me 1.5 - 2 hours to get home and I'm just over 20 miles away. I generally work late and can get home in about 45-50 minutes taking back roads.
Some people pay good money for that kind of abuse!

Have you seen the cost of a monthly pass on the commuter rail. Those people ARE paying good money!

All of these comments about commuting into Boston is why I told my wife it would be a cold day in hell before I lived there or in NYC. Course given the winters we have here, feels like it might have already happened.

I have, and I'm glad I don't have to put up with that shit anymore. The way it's priced now, unless you live in a town where there is free parking for residents, by the time you pay for parking and a round trip ticket, it's about the same price, if not more than just driving in and paying $20 in Boston for parking. There's really no cheap, easy way in and out of Boston during rush hour.

Honestly, I thought the same thing myself and now I wonder where did I go wrong to be dealing with this kind of commute. I grew up in a very rural area, not much in the way of traffic at all. Funny how life has a way of altering even the best laid plans.

I used to drive to the city or outskirts every day from NH when I was a carpenter. I would leave at 4:15am. Sucked.

I leave at 4:30 am and get to Boston around 5:30. I don't mind the commute. Gives me time to enjoy my coffee and wake up. The ride home sucks sometimes.

I used to buy the paper every day. Still would if they didn't go up 100% in a few yrs time.

I do buy the Sunday paper still.

Do you notice more and more traffic earlier in the day as time goes by? As a PM now there are some occasions where I need to be on site first thing, and so I do what I used to do and leave at the same time I used to and it seems there is more traffic now at 5:15AM than there used to be. Or am I just getting older and more cranky?

Morning all! As someone who lives on the Cambridge/Somerville line and has a reverse commute out to Littleton, I can both laugh at and commiserate with all of you who commute into the city.

A third to half of my commute is getting through Cambridge to Rt 2. The other part is a breeze heading west.

Although I've seen quite a rise in angry/aggressive/shitty drivers the last couple days. I think the election has people upset and taking out their frustrations on the road.

    Nah, they're just Massholes, lol.

I've got a 15 minute commute, and I come in early enough that there's not really any body else on the road. I usually pass/am passed 3 or 4 times on the interstate and that's it.

The ride home has more traffic, but it's all moving right along so I very rarely have to sit for more than 30 seconds.

    Edit-
But, even when I had a 45 minute commute for my old job I was never sitting in traffic, because I was taking all back roads to get there. But, that meant that when it snowed my commute time pretty much doubled because they hadn't plowed the back roads yet and I always ended up behind some timid winter driver doing half the speed limit.
