I used to get 22 with a 3" lift and 285s. It was all highway driving nearly getting 400 miles a tank. Now I'm down in the 13-14 :(
But I didn't buy a truck for the MPG haha

Yeah If I baby it and stay at 75 on the highway I see about 18-20 depending on how hilly it is. I've seen over 300 on the flat stretches of highway before.

But as it was said, I didn't buy the truck for MPGs, and I sure as F didn't spend 16 hours leaning over the engine installing a supercharger to not boost all over the place. :burnrubber::burnrubber:

MT stuff, RTT stuff, the usual.
Should be fine. Ask @Box Rocket or @Cascadia Tents if they're just rubber, or if its rubber coated something else. If it's just rubber then no worries

As far as the mpg topic, I've noticed tent or no tent it's all how you drive. I'm 90% highway and BABY it, rarely over 70mph and I average 17mpg. That's with a tent on top of my shell, 285s, bumper.. so on. If I drive hard it drops regardless of tent or not. I'm happy with 17mpg considering my set up.

I don't know of any other brand using the same mat that Tepui uses. Some others are similar, but still different. The Tepui mats are a heavy duty coated mesh that looks similar to expanded metal. They are easily the toughest and most durable that I've seen available.

With a bit of effort it could be cut to size. I've never tried but the edge trim may be able to be removed, trimmed and reattached to the mat after cutting to keep the "finish quality". The edge trim is like what is used on pinchwelds around doors etc, so someone could always source their own and put it around the edge of a cut mat.

If that's the mat that CVT is selling now then I agree, it looks to be the same thing. The ones I've seen in person in a couple different Summit Series were not this same material. Maybe they were early versions? Not sure. If they're the same thing, then everyone has a couple of good options for quality mats.

hey im new here, im thinking of getting me a RTT for my taco, but ive noticed most everyone is mounting from their bed. im thinking of getting the prinsu cab rack and mounting the RTT on there. i know its probably a lot more noisier and prob lose more mpg, but is there any other reason for not mounting it on top the cab?

For me, I think you hit the nail on the head. I'm getting one for next year and plan on mounting it over the bed for MPG reasons. And it may not matter to you, but it will be much higher off the ground too. Also consider it may affect your ability to use drive throughs, parking garages, etc due to clearance.

    Also consider center of gravity

Look at Mobtown or KB Voodoo bed bars. I have a Extang Solid Fold cover that I'm not willing to give up. Those sets of bed bars work with tonneau covers and will keep my stuff dry and out of sight (yes, you have to remove the crossbar to actually open the tonneau cover) but it's still a really great "best of both worlds."

I have my RTT on top of a camper shell and literally haven't noticed any change with handling, power on the highway, or MPG lose. Of course the center of gravity is altered, that's just math but the weight to weight ratio is so one sided I also haven't noticed that at all in off camber off-road situations.

The low hanging limb point is a good one, you really do need to factor that in but all the other stuff I was worried about never came to be.

I'm in! Can't believe how excited I am to post to this thread!

Because of the bed bars aren't centered under the RTT, I'm not yet sold on keeping the tire in the bed. I'd like to keep it there, but just don't know. Someone talk me into moving the tire, or talk me into not worrying about the cantilever...

Also, this ladder angle seems excessive. Everyone agree? I think I'll need to tuck it under more, move it closer to vertical and modify the ladder to keep it that way.

First, I have a overhang and it works fine, I say try it out first and if your still worried then move the tire.
Second, definitely modify that ladder so that its more vertical. Just mark new holes and drill them for the ladder pins.
Third, use a string and tie the other side of the window overhang off to either your mirror or antenna pole so you can have you window over the cab fully open.
