    Haven't finished catching up, but...

    Explosion type noise plus crackling sounds when she shut it down. Sounds like something was hotter than normal. I'm guessing it has something to do with the exhaust system.

    On the way home from work, sounded like something exploded in the area of the rt front tire. Drove fine, no flats, no drips on the ground. The lower control arm, or some other part is wet. Was told when I had the oil changed that I had a small leak. "front lower ball joint seeping grease" Plus odd "crackling" noise after shutdown.

    Nope. Not going to "live" outside.
    If a big storm is forecast I'll put it in the box. It's just to protect it so I don't have to try and get it out to position. The little one was no prob but this tank barely fits through the door. So I need a path etc. if I lose power then just pull the back and fire it off. After its all done and all shoveled it goes back in the garage.
    If I'm making any sense....

    No alt light or engine overheating ? The crackling may be a blown belt tensioner causing the water pump not to spin. Wet right control arm usually indicates leaking cam or crank seals.
    4 or 6 cyl?
