Could be better bro! I HIGHLY doubt I'll make it to R&B 2. Been laying low on the gas and pretty much annnnnny unnecessary spending for right now!!! Anyways, gonna lay low altogether anyways because I want to finally change my belts, vacuum hoses, finish my mods, etc etc etc. I have the mods already, guages and stuff, just never put them on yet!!! Plus, I want to finally look at my driver-side speaker as I believe it is blown???!!!:annoyed::frusty::goingcrazy::boom::bananadead: LOL, I guess I turned up the volume knob a bit too much "Rock'n with Dokken", LMAO!!! "Mr Scary" is an AWESOME instrumental from them!!! :rockband::headbang:

Pretty sure we will most definitely talk when we do meet though.:fistbump::cheers:

@C4 Fabrication , you might want to consider shifting the hole for the 3/4" ham mount outward. It's a bit close to the bend radius. Most ham antennas have a base that is much larger than the 3/4" hole. The way the antenna is assembled is that a 3/4" threaded post is pass through the hole, then a 1" (estimated) ring nut is screwed onto that, then the antenna itself if threaded onto the outer threads of the nut. So the base of the antenna could be 1-1/4". I can take some photos when I get home to better illustrate how it gets assembled.

I realized that same issue after we made the first batch and sent them out. I did change the drawing to move the hole over about a 1/4" to make room for the nut. If you have an issue with yours and cannot get the nut on, we will gladly send you another bracket for free. Let me know how it goes, thank you.

I was starting to wonder if an NMO mount would fit properly on the bracket with a 3/4" opening due to the size of the NMO mounting ring, thank you both for addressing this.

I'm thinking about changing out my Cobra 75 to a small form factor CB.
    1. Mic is too big and heavy
    2. I think the 75 has less power. I could be in the same exact place as my buddies and don't have the reach.
    3. I want a P.A.

    Any CB recommendations?

Needs to be small form factor ( not a lot of space in my cab)
    Needs to have PA

    Thanks!

I am currently working on the install of a CB radio in my truck.

My goal is to take a Uniden 980SSB and make it a remote face unit. Mounting the face on a ram mount on the dash and the body of the radio under the driver or passenger seat.

Its going to be a pain but I think will give me the best installation option. I really wish there were CB radios that have detachable faces that have the US frequencies. Or that it wasn't illegal to transmit on CB freqs with ham gear.

Agreed. It makes little sense that there is not a detachable face model out there.

:worthless:<--- i wanna see pics of that 980SSB installed when your done

I have been looking at the 980SSB but it seems rather large and clunky... I may ditch the idea of having SSB on a CB radio in favor of a smaller CB unit without SSB; i plan to have a 50w 2m/70cm radio with APRS also (eventually), like either the Kenwood or Yaseu.

For me Weather is more important than PA. I grew up in and on boats and the soothing sounds of NOAA are a joy to be heard. I really like the Bearcat 680, but no weather/no purchase. Probably going with the Bearcat 880. Had the 75WXST in my last rig and it spent more time broken than working...
