Did a quick search, could not come up with anything regarding wheels needing to be balanced after the TPMS's have been removed. If there is a thread, please let me know. Just picked up a stock (TRD Sport) set of wheels with new tires, had been swapped out by dealer. They installed new valve stems after removing the TPMS's, that's it. Do they need to be rebalanced? I bought the set so sometime down the road, I can install more aggressive tires for winter use or off roading and not have to pay to have tires unmounted and remounted every year. Thank you.

Considering how small the weights are that they put on your wheels to balance them, I would say you probably do need balancing. Quick google search, typical TPMS weighs ~1.5 oz. Standard wheel weight is 1/4oz each. But then again, you could put it on the car and drive to see if there are any vibrations. My .02, used to be a tire tech.

Supposedly, if they put the tire on the rim in the same position as it came off, balancing will be close.

This is true, but I feel as though it would be hard to get it in the same spot because to mount tires you sort of spin it on. Unless you were conscious about putting it on the same, it probably didn't go on the same way.

I was thinking the weight would not matter, but if wheel weights get that small, I'll take care of it before I put them on the truck, not like a winter and summer change over cost. Thank you for the info.
