Interestingly I've been doing some reading on articles stating that the opposite is true for some cartridges. Longer barrels add to velocity, especially with magnum cartridges, but that you reach a point of diminishing returns with length because the harmonic from the bullet traveling through the barrel can affect flight trajectory. There's a lot of physics that go into it that I don't fully understand, haha! But it's interesting reading as somebody who does a decent amount of moderate distance shooting (200-400 yards)

I just know that if I add more upgrades to my gun, it's worth more caps.

    weathertech, seat covers, scratches
shorter barrels tend to be stiffer too, improving accuracy

I think it will sell very well. It probably gets 40+ mpg, city slickers and millennials will love it.

...^^^... IIRC ... the larger the bore ... the longer the barrel and some ratio to the law of diminishing returns.

Google "Gerald Bull" the super smart Canadian who was perhaps best artillary genius in the world.

He wanted to shoot low orbiting satellites into space ... he had a research place close to our manufacturing facility in Canada.

Nice guy & ballistics genius who went rogue later ... and was killed because he knew too much.

As long as they're of the right thickness. The early thin-barreled (Pencil Barrel) Ruger Mini-14's were reportedly all over the place with accuracy, but the newer design has a thicker barrel wall that is supposedly more accurate.
FWIW, mine is one of the newer thick-barrel design, and it'll leave a pattern you can cover with your hand shooting irons at 100 :notsure:

Of course, there's another thread for that, haha!

I knew a guy that did this. He had lost an eye, and couldn't back a trailer, so this was the way he dealt with his boat.
