    Hi,

Just bought a 2002 tacoma, its in very good condition in general, and most of the frame is nice.

However, the front strut cradles, (someone tell me what theyre officially called), have significant rust. (the part of the frame that the strut mount and upper control arm bolts onto)

Is this part a weld on part to the frame, or bolt on? from what I saw it is welded to the frame, so a part of the frame.

Does this mean having this mount assembly rusted badly, qualifies me for a frame replacement? Would a dealership cut out / unbolt this and replace it under the rust warranty????

Have the Top of the Coils punched through so the front end is sitting on the tires .

I have never seen that part of the frame rust the heat from the engine usually keeps things dried out

    Pictures Please !!!

If the truck was part of the frame recall and was inspected and passed then you have 15 years from the service date as a warranty as I understand it so for a 2002 that would be sometime next year. However if that is not the case then might be time to SAS.

The car has had the frame recovered with undercoating in like 2011 and coz of that they said they can't replace it.. but they didn't see this yet and it was only one dealers opinion thus far.

Car was form NY so is in the recal

Do I have a case to get the frame replaced?

They are giving you some incorrect info then. The frame being undercoated by Toyota and then has serious rust issues is what will qualify you for a frame replacement.

Mine look like that ever spring for as long as the Truck has lived in the winter weather.

Now if the top of the strut had pushed up through the mounting bracket it would be more interesting repair

I just got the truck back from the dealer after all fluid flushes.

Asked if the techs said anything about the strut mounting assembly, guy said no.

I called Toyota recall center and am awaiting a call on Monday from a case rep. To discuss my options.

Crossing my fingers I can get this repaired under recall since I plan on keeping the truck forever

Well its good the truck is covered for the warranty but the frame needs to fail somewhere. Just cause its a rusty mess dosent mean they will replace it unfortunately. It needs to have holes or large cracks before it'll be replaced. Im guessing thats why you're having a bit of an issue getting things rolling with the warranty.
