So how do you run it once you get it inside the 3rd brake light? Do I have to take the headliner out?

you basically have to take off all the vertical trim pieces to get the headliner out.
And once you have the coax going towards/ out the 3rd brake light.... I-you stumped me, ask Tom
Nope, I bought it at a local stereo shop here in Auburn

Just wondering... I bought a prebuilt cable from a guy on ebay using the same kind of coax. He didnt even solder the shields on the connectors and I found it to be not very good coax.

OK ... I'm sorry I have to laugh at that comment. That stuff is RG-8X but, I have no idea who makes it and the true quality of it versus the real Belden RG-8x. At 11meters the quality of the coax isn't as important as it is at VHF/UHF. I use Times Microwave LMR200 for my mobile installations.

I can pick up my mic in my truck ... key up the radio and be talking to someone in Europe through the gateway or within a couple hundred miles with just the repeater.

Yes Europe. Amatuer radio is far superior and yes you need a license and that requires a test. but, its really not hard to pass the entry level exam. With that you can operate on VHF/UHF. Even without the gateway the range on amateur radio is far superior. With a repeater you can get a couple hundred miles depending on the repeater and the terrain. Directly you can get 25-50 miles also depending on the terrain and your equipment. The band that CB operates on just isn't good for short range.

Oh yeah. I know about that Amateur Radio stuff. Its pretty high tech. Seems like alot of fun when you finally get it the way you want it.

i used a small bead of clear silicone around the assymbly

down the piller by the back window and rear passenger door jam, i pulled the headliner just enough. then ran it under the storage compartment under the rear passenger seats. then i ran the cable under the carpet to the center consule. you cant see any cable at all the way i did it.

also, somebody mentioned the mag mount antennas are too easy too steal...true i guess, i've had mine for going on 11 years now and no problems with anyone messing with it. it used to be on my old montero sport then i transplanted it to my tacoma when i bought it.

Thanks for the response, but I returned it today. I liked the idea of the mag mount, I think it has a lot better look, I just felt a little lazy to take the 3rd brake light apart, so I said screw it and went with a bed mount. They didnt have any firestiks to I got a Francis, it was the only black one they had. I got the same CB as you, now I am just trying to figure out how to mount this beast.
