Yes the MT, nullifies the crawl (sort of use-the clutch cancel). I also heard th OR has better brakes, but am not positive on that. OP I don't think the locker will make a huge difference in snow. I had my base model 09 for many years here in Maine, would switch it to 4 by 4 at intersections often, don't think it had a locker, never an issue.

Right. Suspension is the same, just different shocks, most say the OR
shocks are a bit softer so just a matter of preference on that.

Locking the rear diff in the snow is not wise. Your rear end will come around very quick.

I have a 4Runner trail edition with all the gadgets like a Trd or taco has. None of which I have needed to use in the 6 months I've owned it. The odd time a rear locker is useful but if you're not in off camber or flexing situations it's usually not needed.

Makes perfect sense. I was just curious if you got stuck in deep snow if a locker is beneficial or not. I get that it can be in non-snow off road conditions. Sorry for the complete lack off-roading knowledge.

Deep snow off-road it may help if one wheel has traction and the other does not. But for snow driving on road, traction control is your friend.

Lockers are helpful in offroad snow - as in you are cutting trail through snow deeper than 6".

Sport is plenty capable and all 4X4 have a locker, it's on the front axle.

No problems getting around in the Maine snow in my 91. Lived in Topsham ME for 3 years, never got stuck in any of the deeper stuff and never had a rear locker then, not a necessity now but still handy if available.

We may not have real snow like Alaska but we have real bad drivers. When you combine the two its like an earthquake in LA

This may help you decide also. Both sport and OR cost the same but you get a bit more 4x4 goodies with the OR

True. They're probably both equally capable for the type of off-road driving I'll do. I guess the only question now is which I like the look of better. color keyed bumper and fender flares, and scoop or black fender flares, chrome bumper, color accented dash and stitching. Hmm, its a tough one. Also, Inferno or Blazing Blue Pearl!?
