Over the years I have been a member of this forum I have seen mods on gen 2s become new styling on later years of newer Tacomas. Members were moding front grills and headlights and that became new styling. Interior light mods happened and Toyota changed around interior specs.

Toyota did a serious redesign, but dropped features. No possible supercharger, no real tire differences. Given changes in mods on this forum have changed Toyota styling some, what would people like Toyota to change on Gen 3s in the next couple years?

    Thanks

    Vehicle:
    '99 TRD OR V6 M/T
OME, sliders, dents, hail damage, soiled armrest. Lightbulbs.
    Ideas:

    Exterior
    - 35W HID projector headlights (~3200 lumens and ~4300-4800K color temp)
    - LED fog lights (2000 lumens, wide angle, 2700K)
    - front bedrail
    - Weight loss re-engineering, use of aluminum to cut ~300 lbs (help fuel economy, payload+tow capacity and driving dynamics)
    - shrink size about 6" in length and 3.5" in width to help save weight. thinking a middle-ground between size of the 1st gen and 3rd Gen.

    Powertrain
    - Additional ECU map for premium octane gas for a little extra hp/tq in towing or other usage scenarios
    - Reverse lockout on MT
    - the shift indicator / economy upshift light / gear indicator from the MT Toyota 86
    - mild turbo option on TRD (ha...I wish) for ~310hp. To add torque under 4K RPM, better performance at altitude, and maybe a little MPG
    - VSC Sport mode disables the non-linear throttle control for MT's, to help with rev-hang and artifically-subdued throttle tip-in

    Interior
    - air cooled seats
    - manually adjustable seats (up/down, tilt, etc) w/deeper side bolsters on TRD
    - Same for limited, except power seats
    - steering wheel telescopes back an additional inch or two
    - driver's grab handle
    - rear USB charging ports and adjustable vents
    - peg to hold passenger floor mat secure

    Safety
    - add Toyota's Safety Sense config with lane departure warning, forward collison alert, and adaptive cruise control

    Suspension
    - KDSS option

Make the wheel well large enough to accept a 285 at full stuff without lift. Also add another inch to the telescoping steering wheel.

I think he meant just make the wheel well large enough so if someone wanted to add tires they could without lift...

While making the wheel well larger would have a slight impact on fuel economy, it really wouldn't be a material difference.

    My wish list would be the following;

    OEM Hid headlights
    Power folding mirrors
    Driver's side assist handle
Heated steering wheel with more telescoping travel
    8" Nav screen
Hard drive so you can store music in the entune system
    Power front seats
All led lights inside and out except what is mentioned above
Integrated brake controller ( Should come with tow package)
3.2 litre 5 cylinder Diesel engine with 8 speed transmission

Just a few off the top of my head.

Keep it simple, stop adding all the electronics, manual 4x4 shift. More color options, I miss my green. I like the power slider, but they didn't need to do that, again too much electronic stuff to break.

Icom IC-706MKIIG UHF/VHF/HF radio,KC Hilites 20" Flex Bar and ditch lights, Safari snorkel, BedSlide Classic, SnoMaster USA expedition series fridge.
-More HP/Tq at RPMs less than 2k. Either by boost, or displacement, I don't care.
-Grab handle like on my FJ Cruiser on the driver A-pillar
-Vinyl floor like on the FJ Cruiser
-I would love a t-case lever instead of the knob(that's same
size, and shape of the fan speed knob beside it)

You do realize with all the stuff you guys are mentioning would boost the msrp from mid 30s to mid 40s. It wouldn't be able to compete with the other midsize trucks anymore. What they should've done is keep the sr5 and trd the way it is and give all the options you all are mentioning above to the Limited. Make the Limited a $50,000 truck. That way all the features are there and available for the people who want them, but the tacoma remains affordable in the TRD and SR5 range. Then we could just buy Limited parts like we do with the Pro parts to get the features we want. Makes perfect sense

Raise the door arm rests, have the steering wheel telescope forward and up some. Redesign the lower left dash, I bang my knee on it getting in. Or make the peddle box adjustable to come out towards the seat. My short legs need some help. Lower the hood or add a front camera. Pin the passengers side floor mat. Dammit give us a drivers side hand hold. Get rid of the Tron printed seats they just look stupid. Auto headlights. A manual shifting transfercase. A real properly working navigation system. My Tom Tom works better. Get rid of automatically signed up to Sirius Radio. I don't need it, I don't want it and after a year they are still pestering me. I just need them to permanently go away. Either lower axle gear ratio or get rid of the 6 speed automatic and go back to 5 speed or even both. Without the gearing this motor can't pull the 6th gear. Attempting to use it just frustrates everything.

I would like to see a 5.7 400hp Lexus V8 and perf options up to 600 up . Also would like to see a tricked out 2wd Pre Runner option with flared bed side and front fenders with a mid travel suspension with King or Fox shocks

285s, 300+ HP, massive torque, turbo/superchargers, V8's. It sounds like a lot of you guys are FS owners in denial.. I for one do not want the taco to get any bigger/faster. IMO, they've went the wrong way. we disparately need smaller trucks in the US market. I'll cut a check today if they come out with a 3000Lb 1st gen size taco powered by a I4 2.5L D4S turbo around 250ish HP at 25 MPG+ combined real world.
