Why do people forget the larger rear axle, 8" vs 8.8 on the or. Bigger brake booster on the or, though without crawl i am not sure if thats on the manual.
Incline meter which is a cool little gadget.
16 inch vs 18 inch wheels, different tires.

compared to my daily driven rx8, the tacoma is a tank. and +1 to offroading in a sport. the manual negates crawl, the suspension is different but not much so and if you get into offroading or even care about the ride, you will swap it out eventually whether its the sport or OR. which basically makes the difference looks. keep this in mind: paint can be buffed. textured plastic cannot.

Good points. I haven't heard any of those things mentioned. Do you think the 16's or 17's look better?

16 or 18 inch wheels? The or has 16, and i like that since rubber will cost less when i replace the tires down the road. Then again, most everyone here replaces or uografes the wheels anyhow. Why pay for somthing you wont use or will replace.

I did the or for more function. My truck will see trails in the snow during hunting season. So a locker is important for me.

If you meant 16 or 17 as in year, they both look the same lol...

I did the 17 or in inferno. The inferno setuo with orange interior is exactly whats in my driveway.

I do like the hood skewps. But function over form in my oppinion.

You can have an amazing gorgeous drop dead sexy wife. But it doesnt mean a thing if she has a penis instead of a vagina. #did you just assume my gender #trumpmurica.

with a manual it all comes with the larger 4.30 rear end. and only the limited comes with 18" wheels. it does have a different booster but i wouldnt call it larger or better and this may also be negated by the lack of crawl control

My auto doesnt have 4.30 and is an 8.8. You dont need shorter gears for the larger rear.

And sports have 17's ot 18's you're correct, i stand corrected.
Ill have to look into manual sport having the larger 8.8

huh i thought the OR pro and manual ran an 8.8" 4.30 rear end and the rest ran a 3.90 8" gear. guess my catalog is off but then again it lists it as an 8.4" rear end so yeah...

Several folks have correctly pointed out that the MT OR does not have CRAWS or MTS. However, it *does* have ATRAC, which is a very valuable feature of-road. That said:

The 4x4 sport is going to be plenty capable off road, especially with more off-road oriented tires installed. If you get into it and you find yourself reaching the limit of the trucks capabilities (this will most likely be on a steep mogul hill climbs) then you can have an ARB air locker installed. At that point you would be fine for just about anything that doesn't put your sheet metal at serious risk.

For me there was absolutely no question I wanted the OR. But if you like the looks of the Sport better and you've never really done much off-road, then I wouldn't hesitate to get the Sport. Where folks really need to do some internal reflection is when they are deciding between 2wd and 4x4, but you are beyond that step.

I have the Sport, If I could do it again I would 100% go with the OR for several reasons. The OR has Crawl this alone is good enough, so if you dont off road or are not experienced it will def come in handy. It comes stock with the Bilsteins Shocks and the Hitachis on the sport are total CRAP. You will hate the ride... it feels like you have the wobbles and very insecure on the highway. And the hood scoop makes it harder to see over and Im 6'1.

    Just my 02 cents.

    Way to much...but not enough.
I slapped new wheels and tires on mine with 5100's all around and it hung with two rubicon's and a built FJ through some decent trails. Love the sport - next year I'll be putting a locker in.

Nope, drive like a teenager, that's why I like this truck. The traction control and those dam features stop from spinning out most of the time. It actually made driving harder for me when I got the 09 as I was used to the ass end coming loose, loved driving that way. But if you drive like you should in a snow storm you won't have any issues. I drive in 2wd 99% of the time, the only time it is common for me to use 4, is when I come to intersections/stops that are sloppy and that's primarily to use all 4 just to ensure there are no issues.

Manual doesn't have crawl, other than the clutch cancel. When I first joined this forum, I was a little upset with my self, as I thought I should have got the OR instead of the Sport, but I loved the way it looks, and I think it rides pretty dam nice on the road, I have yet to really drive some corners and what not yet, but I think it will do just fine for a truck of its size. The only thing I lose is the locker, and I never needed one in my 09 base model 4 by 4, so it's only this plac that makes me feel I am missing it.

Today I walked out of Home Depot, looked at the trucks, saw mine and thought I am happy with my truck, that dam scoop just makes me happy. Oh and at 6' 3", I will say I notice the scoop, but don't feel it's in my way.

I like the look of the off road, but in Canada we just got the double cab in the off road model (access cab only pre '17) but you're limited to the short box. You're likely in the USA so none of this matters.
