My new toy is coming tomorrow...so I'll be staying here melting metal for a while!

I'm thinking about building a storage container to replace one of the topper windows... Since i can't seem to find the little side access tool things separate from the toppers.

Then i can put all the recovery stuff in there

@Gramps has graciously offered to help me and let me use his tools but we haven't been able to find a time when we are both available, so no progress yet.

    You better check yourself!

    I soldered a beautiful wire...

Then used that same multi tool to plastic weld the broken trash can back together. What now

    What haven’t I changed?
I soldered a USB 3 connector back onto the circuit board it snapped off of earlier. What a pain in the ass.

Soldering paste and tinning the wires/connectors can make soldering soooo much easier.

    Got my wiring done...

    1111161755.jpg

I just need to add the lead from the high beams. I tested it with another 12v, so it's ready to rock when i add that wire.

Anyone know what color the drivers side high beam is?

Its the lack of isolation between terminals that scares me. One bump and your having fried fuses and or switches. And i know you have had fried switches before so you must have liked them. :D

Oh and crimps. So many crimps.

The bump that it would take to cause any of the terminals to hit each other would mean the engine block was pushed back into the cab... so I think the fried switches would be the least of my worries. The panel itself fits so nicely in its spot, its not moving, and has never moved even when I decided to baja the white rim.

And the switch didnt fry before, apparently I was using a momentary relay instead of a continuous one, and the connector in the relay seems to have taken a leave of absence. But the electrical gods approved the relay before I bought it so....

But yes... ideally they would be covered or isolationed with isolation tape. :anonymous:

And the crimps, do you just solder the wires to the switches?

I have backing terminals out the yin yang that plug into the back of those swiches and that way if you pull the swich for what ever reason you dont have to play find where this wire goes... and i was talking about the butt terminals. Speaking of. What gauge wire are you using.

Ahh, I've seen those things before for relays. Guessing they sell them on the switch site?

Whatever gauge wire made my heart feel warm and fuzzy. :) I would guess that its mostly 16.
