No, the side steps bolt to cab holes, sliders mount to frame holes.

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
I know how true-bolt-on works. And it's not how you've described.
If they aren't showing you how it bolts onto the truck then they aren't very proud of it. If I can't see how many bolts are used there's not enough.

My bad - I thought I had remembered reading that a while back in a similar discussion. @Mobtown Offroad can answer that.

Whoa! Those are really inexpensive!! I like how you can really customize the mounting. As far in as you want and as angled as you want. Hmm...

i am trying to hard to not just dump it all on a credit card. :)

I don't know. I'd much rather fill holes than cut off and grind all those welds smooth. But what kind of warranty are we taking? If it's frame warranty work I think you'd be really hard pressed to hide that from a dealer.

If you rested the weight of the vehicle on the soft mount points for running boards you'd pull them out. You have to mount them to the frame for real strength.

I thought we were having a general discussion about bolt ons - not about the SOS ones persay - my bad - I like dealing with the Mob Town guys so I kind of stuck to that.

We offer weld on sliders for the 2016, and no, they are not the same sliders on the 2005-2015. Pricing is the same, but there are slight differences between the two gens.

As for strength, weld on is most definitely stronger than bolt on but with that being said, you have be doing some serious shit to go past the limits of our bolt on sliders. We spent an immense amount of time building a set of bolt on sliders that can go head to head with weld on sliders.

As far as weight, there is a difference. Our bolt on sliders with hardware per side for your truck weighs approx 92lbs. Our weld on sliders per side are approx 68lbs per side.

Oh, and yes we are running 25% off for the month of November. Code is blackfriday2016.

Annnnd, we do not use HREW at all. All our sliders are built standard with DOM tubing for the outer hoop and short tubes that are perpendicular to the square tube. We also use 2" square tube as the main tube that runs down the length of the pinch seam and then 2" square tube for the short pieces that are perpendicular to the long piece that runs under the pinch seam to the flange that bolts to the chassis. The reason is 2" square tube is faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar stronger than round tube.

Ah ha! It was you that mentioned it to me somewhere else. I was half right. It was only the pricing that's the same as the gen 2.

Hmm. 40 pounds difference between the two. That's not a whole lot and bolt on is a little easier.

I'll check but in case you beat me to it, are the weld on ones on your site? If not I assume they look just like the bolt on ones? At least from the outside anyway.

I remember seeing you used that square tube and liked it. It's just those bolt on brackets looked so heavy (my last coupe projects were high horsepower cars so if I could remove 5 pounds from somewhere that was a lot). Maybe I need to stop caring about weight.

And 25%! Fuuuuu. I'm trying to pay off a cc not increase the balance! That's a solid sale.

They aren't on our site but I will get them on there tonight. They look no different than bolt on sliders. Personally, with all the issues Toyota has faced with chassis issues, I would not weld to it. That was our driving factor in making a bad ass bolt on set from the beginning. Wanted weld on strength with bolt on capabilities. I have beat the living hell out of the bolt on set on our 2016 DCSB and they have held up just fine and do their job. No body damage at all, anywhere.

This probably sounds stupid but after just buying a stage 5 icon kit I'm broke and on the fence with the fill plates. And of course the bolt on vs weld on. Weld on no fill plates I can swing. Not sure on the bolt on with fill plates. Haha

Let's say I buy the bolt on sliders (Or even the weld on) without fill plates. I don't need pricing now but would you ever sell fill plates if someone wanted to weld them on down the road?

Of course. We can run them on the laser table, dimple them and ship them out. I will work up the cost and let you know. Shipping won't be bad either.

Sweet thanks! Looks like I'll be ordering something here in the next couple days. When you add please add some pics if you have them of how it welds to the frame. I don't think I saw them on the gen2 pics.

That helps because I can try without the fill plates first. My last 4Runner (1985) had something similar without the plates and it never looked fully finished. So I'm curious how it looks on a 2016 Tacoma that way.
