You do realize as of today that area is closed and off limits to all motor traffic. Violators are subject to a $5000 fine and/or 6 months jail time (federal). Not to mention if a recovery is needed it's on your dime.

I work for the Tonto and I know the Cave Creek people, so trust me when I say they will push the full extent of the law if you are caught.

Ill check tomorrow to see if that area is going to be opened in the next couple days.

Sorry I meant as of today it's still closed. It's been closed since Friday because of the storms. I will check when I get into work tomorrow to see if anything has or will change. I just don't want you guys to go out and get into trouble. I talked with the Patrol Captain for Tonto today, and they are actively enforcing closures with fines at the least and more if the offense is blatant.

Danzer, I called the CCRD this morning to ask about FR41 and FR24. They are reporting that FR24 is still closed from 7 springs up (barricaded was the exact wording) and FR41 is also barricaded from the I17 area over. They are not expecting to get FR41 open for at least a week or longer, because of weather conditions and the wash outs.

The person I spoke with is said that last time they got something like this the washes cut 5-6 foot trenches in the road because of the high amount of water they received. This time they are expecting worse, because they still can't get all the way through on FR41. Just to give you an idea of how much rain fell on that area in less than 48 hours, the lowest amount the rain gauges recorded was 8 inch. Many of them recorded over 10. I asked them if individuals with highly modified rigs and recovery gear could make it and his answer was, not even a bulldozer could get through that road right now. So unfortunately FS 41 and 24 are still closed with no estimation date on when they will be reopened. They are still just trying to get Bartlet dam road open, but that hasn't even happened yet.

I'm sorry to be a party downer, but I just don't want anyone to get hurt or in trouble. He said that Sheriffs deputies are actively patrolling those areas and are issuing fines to anyone caught in the restricted area. They have already had to send out several rescue parties because of stuck or lost users.
