Hello all, hopefully this won't be my last post :)

I'm going to check out a 1st Gen Tacoma tomorrow. I'd like your guys opinion on the pricing.

    - 2001 Tacoma
    - One Owner
    - Well Maintained
    - 2.7L I4
    - Auto Trans
    - Power Windows
    - Auto Locks
    - 4x4
    - 155k miles

    They're asking $6,350

Is this fair? I've also attached some pics if that helps. Also, I understand the frame issues. I'll inspect it tomorrow

And finally reliability? In terms of sheer reliability how does it stand up to the 3.4L V6?

Seems like a good deal especially if you can talk him down even more. The frame definitely needs to be checked first though.

Anyhow, the 2.7 is just as reliable as the 3.4 it seems. Unless you're planning on towing or throwing on huge tires, I'd say you're fine with the 2.7.

That is a good deal if frame checks out ok. Like DustStorm4x4 said, the 2.7 is just as reliable as the 3.4, just with less power. If frame looks good, buy that sucker!

That's a great deal indeed given the frame is in good shape and not rusted. The 2.7l is a bulletproof motor, you ain't going anywhere fast in it but it'll outlive you if taken care of properly

Suze Orman would say denied, look for a 3.4 manual. That truck is going to be slow

Good deal if the frame and such is alright, look for major problems. Got mine (listed under my profile pic) for just over $5200, so yours being a 4wd with lower miles makes sense to be a bit higher.

Valve jobs on the 2.7 are much more common than on the 3.4, especially around this mileage, so I'm told.
I would check the clearances on this motor before buying.

I have the 4 door version of that truck

If you want slow come see mine

His will be faster than a 911 relative to mine

Good thing I only drive mine downhill
    And having 225 tires help
    21mpg

Just did a 1700 mile drive in it for 3 days
80mph all day long (if there are hills you are screwed)

Snatched mine up 12 hours after the listing went up, and the guys phone was ringing off the hook. Get it now or regret it forever. (Assuming its in good shape)

I lost out on 2 4 doors even though I put deposit on one

When I finally found the one I have, I wired a $1000 deposit sight unseen

Left home at 3am to go see it 4 hours away
Snatched it up 30 min after it came one market

1 gen 4 door are gold (in good non gardener beat up condition)

You can get more but people are looking for a deal. The lower the price, the quicker you will sell it.

Dont plan on pulling anything... 2.7 is good for pulling itself, bulletproof as the 3.4

Yeah my 04 was listed on a Friday evening on autotrader, 3 hours away in San Diego. I was there at the dealership an hour before they opened the next morning at 7am. Was doing the paperwork a couple hours later lol.

4X4 5speed supercharged v6 with 24k miles was drawing a lot of attention and I knew I had to snag it.
