I'm pretty happy with this thing, but if I had to be picky. V8 option would be nice. Dodge shoves a 5.7 in their half ton for $1,250 over their v6. I'd easily drop that on a couple more cylinders. Led lights like the Corolla, front camera, trailer brake controller, higher output 120v inverter and alternator with interior plugs.

    Workin' on it....
Personally I wouldn't mind either a small V8 or turbocharged V6. I'd also like a larger capacity fuel tank for increased range in the middle of nowhere.

Clean sheet redesign would be nice in 2025 when the gen 4 comes out lol.\

Way the EPA works is mid-size trucks are not excempt from certain testing like some full size trucks. It's why small pickups are getting smaller engines.
I wish Toyota had kept the 4.0 around and improved it. Seemed such a solid platform to expand upon. GM has gotten great power, reliability and MPG out of their 4.3 liter V6 which has been around forever. Sometimes it's not necessary to reinvent the wheel IMO.

overall already a nice setup. Some of these items can be fairly easily fixed but...
    1. disc brakes for the rear
    2. keyless access on passenger side
    3. android-auto for entune HU
    4. less weight (ie, aluminum body)
    5. heated side mirrors and power folding
    6. front, side and rear cameras
    7. auto-sensing wipers
    8. driver side grab handle
    9. better sound deadening/absorption in cab
    10. good all-season tires (ko2) from the factory

    ...no power seats...

    1. Always on power outlet to charge phone
    2. Better off road tires for Off Road version
    3. Ability to shutoff BSM, Rear Cross Traffic and Parking Sensor monitors and not get alerts when they've been removed or disengaged (rear bumper install that didn't support them).
    4. Driver side exhaust routed differently...it shouldn't be the low point under the vehicle
    5. Two rear passenger charging ports
    6. Real bumpers - not plastic
    7. Hood struts instead of rod
    8. Better mileage tracking (like my wife's 2016 Prius)
    9. Passenger side all weather mat bolted down like drivers side
    10. Door armrests with real padding...not a piece of cloth over hard plastic
    11. BSM sensors in side mirrors (like my Mazda CX-9) and not rear bumper where they can get damaged. Also, audible alert when someone is in the blind spot (like CX-9). Yes I head check but it's saved me SEVERAL times in the CX-9.

4.6L V8....had that engine in my 12' TRD SR5 Tundra. A little under powered for the Tundra, IMO (especially when towing) but would be dynamite in the 3d gen and could easily be be offered before the gen 4.

Everyone asking to bring back the old model tacomas/trucks... wouldn't it be cheaper to buy and old truck, add a new engine and be on your way? Why all this old stuff on a new 30,000$ truck?

Disk Brakes all around, better space utilization thu-out the pick-up, LED headlights that work well, multi-adjustable with lumbar power seats both sides, Car Play/Android Auto, Kick Butt Stereo with Sub STD, 6 speed auto trans that works well, 500 lbs more payload, can roll the windows down with the key fob......

Oh wait, thats already been done somewhere else. They just need to put a Smiling face with braces on it.

    Sorry all, Couldn't resist :D

That is the thing....price has become too bloated. $30K for a little truck that can't really haul or tow anything, I dunno...it is a little out of line.

Strip off all of the added excess bullshit that today's trucks have and get the price closer to $20K would be nice. Sure it would be cheaper to buy an old truck and toss a whole new engine in there, but it be nice to have the whole thing brand new, without having to cost an arm and a leg. Yeah, people will pay $40K for a truck that is mostly useless...believe car people are ruining trucks in general with all of their "comfort needs".

Hell, just look at all the added bullshit on the base models now-a-days, which adds weight and lessens the payload, and why the Tacoma has lack luster mpg.

Too bad we don't get the option of a bare bones truck, with 2000 lbs payload, and 30+ mpg.

I dunno...as I age the less and less and less money I want to spend a vehicle...as vehicles are a horrible investment. Went and test drove a brand new Taco this past week, and all I could think was...$30K for a little truck that can't do much of anything, at least it gets crappy gas mileage! errr...wait minute. Man, $30K.....30 flippin' thousand dollars for a vehicle I found to be just "ok". Was pretty hot for a new truck. Don't think I can pull the trigger, wasn't too impressed.

I'll pay closer to $20K for a truck that is mostly useless (even then that is too much!)....so no way am I paying $30K+....just seems nuts. Maybe I just getting too old and cheap.... ;)

That passenger side mat does need a anchor point.
